I had to redesign the TLX 600 II semi-axial flow pump model in order to reduce its mass which has two stages, vertical shaft and stator wheels. The original machine was modeled as an oscillating system and I determined its frequency. I pointed out that the mass of the pump can be reduced with 30%. Then I worked out the welded stator wheel in detail. Its loads were determined and I checked the strength of the new construction. The flanges of the wheels were optimized. As a result the mass of the original part decreased from 601 kgs to 293 kgs. The final construction has a mass of 4580 kgs. It is 17% less than the original 5500 kgs.
