Flabob Consulting's founder was previously head of foreign press relations while working for a major multinational bank, in Japan. He also managed the communications of several joint ventures for the bank and was involved with the group's Japan-based communications response to September 11, a very publicized bomb threat, and a Financial Services Agency sanction against part of the company's business in Japan. In 2002 he left the bank to join a New York headquartered PR firm where he led the firm's corporate, financial, and litigation practices in Japan, while also working with the company's crisis and issues management team. His clients included companies from the agriculture, aviation, energy, financial services, health and pharmaceutical, hotel and hospitality, professional services, real estate, technology (B2B and B2C), and tourism industries. He provided counsel in a range of areas including business, product, and service launches; international trade and tourism lobbying; and special interest group lobbying. His crisis and issues management and litigation practices centered on product liability and recalls, international criminal and civil suits, trade disputes, and government and regulator inquiries and sanctions. He also consulted for, and media trained, company presidents, heads of state, and sports personalities until October 2006 when he joined a Japan-based multi-national real estate firm where he is Chief Marketing Officer.
