Establishing a Trigonometrical Network using GPS station.
In this project GPS was used in order to create a Trigonometrical Network around a city and calculate points of interest in the centre Serres. Two GPS Base receivers were positioned on newly created points, whereas the two GPS Rover receivers were placed on existing trigonometrical points on 5, 10, 15 and 30 meters radius around the city centre. After the completion of measurements, followed the resolution of the bases that were created with the use of Topcon Tools software. Afterwards, points of interest were chosen and established in the centre of the city and around it. The method that was used at this part is Real Time Kinematic. At the end of acquisition of measurements, the coordinates of the points of interest were obtained and compared to the equivalent coordinates that were calculated with classic means of Topography.

Growing up in an environment where engineering was highly regarded, I grew interested in this exciting field and decided to pursue a BSc in Geomatics and Survey. I graduated from the Technological Educational Institute of Serres with the skills that allowed me to get my hands dirty, interact with nature and engage in stimulating work. I have always regarded surveying as the pioneering work on which other engineers and professionals start to build upon, the foundations of the foundations. I learned how to work out a plan and then proceed successfully, coping with unexpected situations in the field. During my studies I gained experience in Surveying and in GIS science, conducting field measurements and providing Decision Support, Data Analysis, and Mapping. I completed my postgraduate studies in Spatial Information Management of the Geoinformation department of Carinthia University of Applied Science as I consider that the way to further develop the understanding of space and the means to manipulate spatial data in a more effective way is through Geoinformation science.
