The Debate
When Joy Consulting was called in to design a poster for this event, we started out by studying the participants in the debate, and the nature of the controversy behind the debate. The goal that we wanted to achieve was to convey this controversy within the design of the poster in order to strike the same feeling into the viewers. The poster was designed from a background of clouds on a parchment scroll. This is deliberately designed to convey a sense of antiquity while evoking the feelings of uncertainty and doubt. The san-serif fonts were used to convey a sense of contemporary design, while the ribbon on the foreground which appears to wrap the entire poster is designed to resemble the designs used by the Soviet Union, and present a sense of war. The contrast between antiquity and contemporary design was deliberate in that it further stirs the uncertainty. While conveying emotions, this design does not fail in presenting the viewer on the essential elements that the user needs to
