Introduction NOAA CREST’s content publishing architecture relied on manually individual HTML files, which didn’t scale properly with the rapidly changing nature of the organization. The client needed a robust content management system that was built on open-source standards, and was able to scale quickly as the organization’s needs changed. The content mangement system also required needed to be easy to use for content authors and provide a simple workflow that met the organization’s needs. The Technology The solution provided by Joy Consulting was to use Plone for content management, which was built on ZopeDB. Plone provided a robust architecture for workflows and content management. When the content was published by the content approver, it was migrated automatically to a PostgreSQL database which was displayed on a beautiful website that was powered by Django.
