Many regions have found the once ubiquitous suburban McMansions have become albatrosses while property values dip and energy and fuel costs rise, making living big less fun. Lust for a six-bedroom, five-bathroom home with a three car garage and expensive upkeep was waning even before top executives watched their well remunerated positions evaporate.
