Today, India ranks second worldwide in farm output having about 50% of the total workforce out of which more than half consists of women. Since independence economic contribution of agriculture had played biggest role.At present there are many challenges in rural development, mostly socio-economic for empowerment of rural women. Indian women have shown their strength while supporting their families financially.

E-Governance is part of the new evolution that has played an important role in this new competitive and fast paced development. The 21st century has seen the development of urban areas. Centralization of industries in urban areas has suppressed the growth and development of rural areas which constitutes a major part of any developing country. It is argued that internet technologies can be used as a weapon for fighting against the under-developed conditions in the rural areas.
