Renan Rosa Viewbook
travel writing, text by Jonah Butt “Photographer and artist seek the same prize, a feeling that only one who wanders alone may achieve” – Faoze Chibli (1961) A relative process Renan Rosa neatly describes as a breeding cycle, “two moments become four, four become eight and eight become sixteen as the exhibition season opens and closes” he proposes gently. “A controlled population explosion of colour, image and portraiture” he adds. “Infinite possibility, interpretation of codes and re-invention of simple fact, hard currencies in the transaction between camera & curator” he explains. “A necessary courting ritual” he suggests dryly. “Time meets Space. Time gets Space”. “Always in the present” Rosa insists, unconsciously raising his hand as if to strike out. “The present” he repeats slowly.
