I have enjoyed 30 years of experience in varied parts of the computer industry: 3D computer graphics, programmer support, web design, embedded product development, and have been using and programming on the web since 1985. I am curious, learned, generous, and dedicated to achieving of a realistic level of perfection. Currently (jan '10) I am responsible for starting up an group of web-stores for a Belgian entrepreneur. This gave me hands-on experience the payment systems, banking contracts, call center, and logistics sides of the web. I adapted Magento as the e-commerce engine. 2007-2008 I was working for NXP Semiconductors in Leuven to create a networked testing system for the software package being assembled for a new media processing chip. Scripted testing in Bangalore, and Leuven was operated using a web-based testing engine. Using this toolset moved the testing workload from the development team to the machines. Testing included analog and digital measurement of non-functional requirements like power consumption and audio quality. I was also responsible for customer communications and built a Lotus Notes web site (a combination of wiki and Sharepoint) to enable secure data sharing between all the parties involved. My university training started in 1975 where my engineering studies focused on process, design, and project management. I specialised in ergonomics (man-machine interfaces) because I had the goal of making it easy for people to use computers. I also studied real-time, multi-tasking programming and computer graphics. At Northern Telecom (now Nortel Networks) I gained experience in embedded device programming, database applications and developing for the web. I introduced scripted testing, and a networked testing system for the development lab. On the office floor I introduced Apple Network, office automation, and the use of the web and Usenet to distribute information and co-ordinate lab and support activities. This experience led to my getting my dream job with Alias|Wavefront. During my 5 and half years at Alias|Wavefront I did more web development to create online licensing tools. On the application side the job was to use the C++ API of Maya, Alias’ 3D modelling and animation tool. My job was to explain the details of how to use the APIs, in part, by publishing examples and FAQ on the web. Web development was CGI in shell script and PERL, with Javascript and DHTML. One of my first jobs as an independent in Belgium was writing LAMP applications for the BM Group of Eeklo, for instance our customer Enraf. I already had some years of net-admin experience with Linux and the Apache server, now I applied my knowledge of SQL programming to MySQL, and learned to use PHP as a programming language. The toolset was Eclipse and Dreamweaver. My most recent use of Java was enhancing test automation package for the HDTV development teams at Philips Brugge. I wrote plug-ins providing GUI control panels for the different parts of the TV system under test (tuner, audio, video etc.) and for the interface to the hardware under test. Another recent job with Datacenter Tech. in Lochristi allowed me more practice with PHP, and to learn Python as we developed a networked document archive with a web control interface. Over mijn talen vaardigheden ik kan zeggen dat ik spreek goed Nederlands, bijna vlot. Mijn schriftelijk vaardigheid is minder, dus deze brief is in Engels geschreven. Aussi je parle et lire Français. My skill with English is superior in all areas of communications; I have worked as a technical writer creating user documentation, specifications and legal documents, and I am well versed in giving convincing presentations, and training courses. I hope you will agree that my experience fits with what you are looking for. Jeff Hayes
