My academic training is in the social sciences, with particular emphases on contemporary international relations, history, politics, and law. I have a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford (Oriental Studies, subspecialty in Japan-China Relations, 2007) and a Bachelor’s degree from the George Washington University (International Affairs, magna cum laude and with Special Honors, 2004). I have work experience in educational publishing (Technical Editor, McGraw-Hill), politics (Intern for a U.S. Senator), law (Legal Assistant), and tutoring (reading and writing). I am also fluent in Japanese, and have particular experience editing the work of those for whom English is not a first language.
