I created PriceShed.com as a test bed for learning new techniques in both front and back end development. Originally designed using Php and MySQL I quickly moved on to using CodeIgniter for the powerful templating options they employ and for the speed of development. I then became interested in responsive design and decided to recreate the site using Zurb Foundation. This has allowed the site to become fully responsive and to be able to adapt to any screen size. While doing this I looked into techniques for speeding up loading times and settled upon using Phalcon. Phalcon is a Php framework that is compiled as a C extension. This means it is extremely fast and capable of serving more requests at once.
About Me
I'm a web designer and php developer with on the job experience going back to 2008 (although I started programming in my spare time long before that). I previously worked in the games industry creating landing pages, mini-sites, blogs, custom CMS and ecommerce stores (Magento). I especially enjoy responsive design using Zurb Foundation and focus on ease of use and site loading speed (which Google loves). Responsive design means your website looks just as good on mobile as it does on larger screens. I have experience in html, css, javascript (jQuery), responsive design (Zurb Foundation) As well as front-end design I also code in Php and have experience with CodeIgniter, Phalcon and also MySQL databases.
