Know Your Customer Program (KYC)
The Know Your Customer Program (KYC) is an identity verification process that ensures a safer online workplace for all Freelancer.com users. This is different from the Corporate KYC Program and Limit Account, wherein documents also need to be submitted for the process to be completed.
3 Components of KYC
Each component requires a document to be submitted for it to be accepted and approved. The three components are:
- Proof of Identity. Here, you will be required to submit a valid government-issued ID.
- Keycode Verification. This requires a photo of yourself holding a piece of paper with your unique code (to be provided in the Verification Center) and the text "This keycode is for account verification at Freelancer.com." in one hand, and your actual ID (same ID as the one submitted in your proof of identity) in your other hand.
- Proof of Address*. This can be a document or a government-issued ID that has your complete address.
- This will no longer be required if your proof of identity contains your current address. Just tick Yes when you reach this section in the Verification page.
*Address in/containing P.O Box is not accepted. Make sure to use your physical address.
The review of your documents will take 2-3 business days after your submission. Remember to visit the Verification Center for the status of your KYC if you have an ongoing verification.
When is the best time to complete the voluntary KYC?
As a Freelancer.com user, you are encouraged to verify your identity to market yourself as a trusted member of our online community. Hence, we suggest completing the KYC immediately after registering your account. This will also save you time in the future when you are about to withdraw your earnings.
When are you required to complete the KYC?
You may complete the voluntary KYC any time, here. However, verification may be required if we deem it necessary to add another layer of security to your account, as well as when you choose to withdraw your earnings through Express, Wire, PayPal, Payoneer, or Skrill.
