To build trust among users, the freelancers’ first name and the initial of their last name are shown as their display name on Freelancer.com. The display name is shown on their profile page, Browse Freelancers page, project and contest pages, Contact list, chat box, and Inbox.
The employers’ display name, on the other hand, are shown to freelancers after the project is awarded to them or when they are contacted by the employer via chat. The awarded freelancer or the contacted bidder will see the employer’s display name on the project page, contest page, Contact list, chat box, and Inbox.
Public display names cannot be changed and are different from usernames.
