Hello, I am looking for an experienced electronics/PCB engineer to design a compact production-ready PCB. This is a redesign of a previous project, so manufacturability, component selection, reliability and proper engineering are particularly important. Main requirements The PCB must include: * ESP32 with Zigbee / Thread / Matter support * Wi-Fi support is mandatory. * Bluetooth support is mandatory. * The selected ESP32 must provide sufficient RAM and flash memory with reasonable headroom for the networking stacks and our application firmware. * ESP32-C6 may be considered, but the designer may propose a more suitable Espressif device if technically justified. * The final MCU/module selection must be agreed before PCB layout. * USB-C port * Used for firmware programming. * The ESP32 must be directly programmable through USB-C. * Compatible with our firmware development workflow using ESP-IDF / PlatformIO. * BOOT and RESET buttons * 12–24 V DC input * The board must operate reliably across the entire 12–24 V DC input range. * Appropriate reverse-polarity, overvoltage/transient and input protection must be included. * DC output * No adjustable voltage regulator is required. * The output voltage must be the same as the DC input voltage. * The 12–24 V input must therefore be available as a protected pass-through output for external devices. * Ethernet * Standard wired Ethernet connectivity is required. * PoE is NOT required. * 2 ultra-compact relays * Controlled by the ESP32. * Electrically isolated using optocouplers or an equivalent properly engineered isolation solution. * 2 Wiegand reader inputs * Suitable for standard access-control readers. * Proper protection and input conditioning must be included. * Expansion connector/socket * Reserved for future connection of a GPIO expander or additional peripherals. PCB size and layout requirements The PCB must be as compact as reasonably possible. The maximum allowed PCB size is 76 mm × 70 mm. A smaller PCB is strongly preferred, provided that reducing the size does not compromise: * electrical reliability; * isolation and clearance requirements; * thermal performance; * RF performance; * Ethernet signal integrity; * manufacturability; * serviceability. The designer should actively optimize the placement and routing to minimize the board dimensions while maintaining a robust and production-ready design. The RF section and antenna placement must be designed correctly, including the required antenna keep-out area. EasyEDA and JLCPCB are mandatory The complete project must be designed in EasyEDA. The PCB is intended to be manufactured and assembled by JLCPCB, therefore component selection must be based on parts actually available through the JLCPCB/LCSC supply chain. Component selection must balance: * good availability and stock levels; * long-term availability; * reasonable component cost; * quality and reliability; * assembly cost. Whenever possible, commonly stocked and cost-effective JLCPCB parts should be preferred over expensive or difficult-to-source components, but quality and reliability must not be sacrificed simply to reduce BOM cost. Unnecessarily exotic, obsolete or poorly stocked components should be avoided. Target production cost Cost optimization is an important requirement of this project. Our target manufacturing cost on JLCPCB is approximately US$10–15 per completed PCB, including: * PCB fabrication; * components; * SMT assembly. Shipping, import taxes/duties and one-time setup/tooling costs can be considered separately. The designer is expected to take this target into account during component selection and PCB design. Whenever technically equivalent components are available, preference should be given to solutions that provide the best balance between: * reliability; * availability; * JLCPCB assembly cost; * component price. If the designer believes that the US$10–15 target cannot realistically be achieved while meeting the technical requirements, this must be clearly communicated before proceeding with the PCB layout, together with the expected unit cost and the components responsible for the difference. Unexpected BOM cost increases after the design has been completed will not be considered acceptable if they could reasonably have been identified during component selection. Component selection For every assembled component, the BOM must include the exact LCSC/JLCPCB part number. Before finalizing the PCB, the designer must verify that the selected components are compatible with JLCPCB assembly and are reasonably available. The designer should prefer widely stocked components when technically equivalent alternatives exist. Where a critical component has a significant availability risk, a suitable alternative should preferably be identified. Deliverables The final delivery must include: * Complete EasyEDA editable project * Complete schematic * PCB layout * Gerber files * Drill files * Pick-and-place / CPL files * JLCPCB-compatible BOM * Exact LCSC part numbers * Manufacturing files ready for JLCPCB assembly * PDF schematic * PCB fabrication notes where required * Relevant datasheets / component references * Any special assembly instructions * Source files necessary for us to independently modify and manufacture future revisions of the PCB The project must not depend on proprietary files retained by the designer. Design review Before manufacturing, I expect a complete engineering review covering at least: * 12–24 V power supply design; * input protection; * protected DC pass-through output; * Ethernet PHY/interface; * ESP32 power integrity; * ESP32 RAM and flash sizing; * USB-C programming interface; * relay drivers and isolation; * Wiegand input protection; * Wi-Fi / Bluetooth / Zigbee / Thread RF layout; * antenna placement and keep-out; * grounding; * ESD protection; * PCB clearances; * thermal considerations; * DFM for JLCPCB; * estimated assembled PCB cost on JLCPCB. Prototype support The designer should be available to assist with the first prototype production and to correct any PCB design issue discovered during prototype testing. Firmware development is NOT part of this project. We will develop the firmware ourselves. However, the hardware must be fully documented and designed so that we can develop the firmware independently. Required experience Proven professional experience is mandatory. The selected designer must have demonstrable experience with projects involving several of the following: * ESP32 hardware design; * Zigbee / Thread / Matter; * Wi-Fi and Bluetooth RF design; * Ethernet hardware; * mixed-voltage power supply design; * relay interfaces; * Wiegand interfaces; * compact PCB layout; * EasyEDA; * JLCPCB / LCSC assembly. Please provide real examples of previous PCB projects, preferably including photographs, PCB renders, manufacturing files, portfolio items, or other verifiable evidence of work completed. Generic statements such as “I have experience with ESP32” without supporting examples will not be considered sufficient. Proposal requirements Please include in your proposal: * Final total fixed project cost * Estimated completion time * Number of revisions included * Relevant professional experience * Experience with ESP32 / Zigbee / Thread / Matter * Experience with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth PCB design * Experience with Ethernet PCB design * Experience with EasyEDA * Experience designing boards for JLCPCB assembly * Examples of similar PCBs you have previously designed Please briefly explain the architecture you would use for this PCB and mention the main components you would select, including the exact ESP32 variant and the reason for your choice. Please also provide a preliminary indication of whether you believe the US$10–15 assembled PCB target cost is achievable with your proposed architecture. Important bidding conditions The amount submitted in the public proposal will be considered the final and binding project price for the scope described in this listing. Price increases after submitting the proposal will not be accepted. Please review the complete specification carefully before placing your bid. I will not consider: * proposals submitted at an artificially low price with the intention of renegotiating later; * subsequent requests to increase the project price for requirements already described in this listing; * alternative or higher-priced private offers sent after the public bid; * attempts to move the negotiation to a different price outside the submitted Freelancer proposal. Any optional feature, technical concern, exclusion or additional cost must be clearly identified in the original public proposal before the project is awarded. The published proposal must therefore represent the freelancer’s genuine and final commercial offer for completing the project as specified. I am not interested in automated, generic or bot-generated proposals. Only proposals from professionals with proven and relevant experience will be considered. Firmware development is excluded from the scope. Thank you. Best regards, Luca

Hi, I am an embedded systems engineer with over 16 years of experience designing production-ready connected hardware, including ESP32, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth RF, Ethernet, mixed-voltage power, isolated relay, and access-control interfaces. I work with EasyEDA and JLCPCB/LCSC manufacturing requirements, from component selection and DFM through prototype bring-up and production. I propose the ESP32-C6-WROOM-1-N8: its 8 MB flash provides practical firmware headroom, while its integrated Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth LE, and 802.15.4 support Zigbee, Thread, and Matter. I would pair it with a W5500 Ethernet controller and integrated-magnetics RJ45, native USB Serial/JTAG through USB-C, a protected 12–24 V buck supply and pass-through output, optoisolated relay drivers, and protected/conditioned Wiegand inputs. RF keep-out, grounding, ESD, thermal behavior, clearances, and stock-qualified LCSC alternatives will be reviewed before layout. The US$10–15 assembled target appears possible near its upper end at suitable production quantities, but first prototypes will likely cost more. I will confirm pricing and identify any cost drivers before layout. My fixed price is €350, including all listed source/manufacturing files, three revision rounds, engineering review, and first-prototype design support; firmware is excluded. Delivery is 14 days. Similar commercial projects are NDA-protected, but I can show relevant PCB renders and evidence privately. What production quantity should be used for the cost estimate? Please contact me to discuss details.

Hi, I understand this is a complete redesign of a compact, production-ready ESP32 board within 76 × 70 mm, with reliable 12-24 V protection, pass-through output, Ethernet, isolated relays, Wiegand inputs, USB-C programming, RF clearance, and an expansion connector. I would first confirm the MCU architecture, power tree, Ethernet solution, relay isolation, protection parts, and JLCPCB/LCSC availability before starting the EasyEDA schematic and PCB layout. ESP32-C6 is a strong starting option for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Thread, and Matter, but I will confirm its memory, USB, Ethernet interface, and application headroom before approval. The design will include DFM, DRC, clearance, thermal, grounding, antenna keep-out, signal-integrity, and cost reviews, followed by verified BOM part numbers, alternatives for risky components, Gerbers, drill, CPL, PDF schematic, assembly notes, datasheet references, and editable source files. I will also support the first prototype review. My relevant work covers C Programming, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Engineering for embedded hardware and production documentation. I will provide genuine comparable PCB evidence and clearly report whether the US$10-15 assembled target is realistic before layout. Fixed price: EUR 350. Completion: 21 days. Includes 2 revision rounds. Firmware development is excluded. Which Ethernet connection is preferred—an external PHY with RJ45, or a compact integrated Ethernet module—and what relay contact rati

Hi there, I carefully reviewed your requirements for a compact production-ready ESP32 control board combining Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee/Thread/Matter, Ethernet, USB-C programming, isolated relay control, protected Wiegand inputs, and a 12–24 V protected power architecture within the 76 × 70 mm maximum envelope. I am a mechatronics engineer with almost half a decade of experience in embedded electronics, multilayer PCB design, power supplies, hardware prototyping, and interfaces including USB, Ethernet-class high-speed routing, SPI, I2C, UART, and related embedded systems. I also have extensive PCB development experience using Altium Designer, with attention to power integrity, RF-sensitive placement, protection, manufacturability, and component availability. This project requires careful coordination between RF layout, Ethernet signal integrity, power protection, isolation, compact placement, BOM control, and JLCPCB manufacturing constraints. Because these areas are already part of my core hardware skillset, I can approach the design efficiently and critically rather than simply reproducing the specification without engineering review. My primary PCB tool has been Altium Designer, so the mandatory EasyEDA deliverable should be confirmed before proceeding. Please send me a message so we can discuss the project and start. Hi, I am an electronics/PCB engineer experienced with compact ESP32 systems, Ethernet, mixed-voltage power, relay interfaces, RF layout, EasyEDA, and JLCPCB/LCSC production workflows. I would use an ESP32-C6 module for native Wi-Fi/Bluetooth plus 802.15.4 Zigbee/Thread/Matter support, paired with a compact SPI Ethernet controller such as W5500 and a protected 12–24 V power stage. Approach: ✅ I will first freeze the architecture, ESP32 memory/module choice, Ethernet interface, relays, Wiegand protection, USB-C, power tree, and exact LCSC parts before layout. ✅ I will create the EasyEDA schematic and compact ≤76 × 70 mm PCB with RF keep-out, Ethernet signal integrity, isolation/clearance, ESD protection, grounding, and thermal/DFM rules. ✅ I will verify every BOM item against JLCPCB availability/cost and deliver Gerbers, CPL, BOM, source files, PDFs, and complete manufacturing documentation. ✅ I believe the $10–15 assembled target may be achievable near its upper limit at production quantity, but I would confirm this with a live JLCPCB BOM before PCB layout. Questions: ✅ What Ethernet connector type, relay contact rating, and Wiegand cable length/environment must be supported? ✅ What production quantity should I use when validating the $10–15 target cost, and is a 4-layer PCB acceptable if required for RF/EMI performance? Best, Yaroslav

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hi Luca, I’ve reviewed the complete specification carefully. This is a compact mixed-signal design where RF, Ethernet, 12–24V power, isolation and manufacturability all need to be considered together. My preliminary architecture would use an ESP32-C6-MINI-1 for Wi-Fi/BLE + Zigbee/Thread/Matter, with native USB programming, and an external Ethernet controller such as W5500. I’d design the protected 12–24V input/pass-through, isolated relay drivers, protected Wiegand inputs, ESD protection and compact RF/antenna layout around this architecture. I’ll work entirely in EasyEDA, selecting components from the JLCPCB/LCSC supply chain and verifying exact LCSC part numbers before finalizing the BOM. Relevant experience: • ESP32/RF PCB: [YOUR REAL EXAMPLE] • Ethernet PCB: [YOUR REAL EXAMPLE] • EasyEDA/JLCPCB: [YOUR REAL EXAMPLE] I’ll provide the complete editable project, schematic, PCB, Gerbers, drill, CPL, BOM, LCSC numbers and manufacturing documentation.

Hello, Bidding the full hardware scope, firmware excluded. ESP32-C6-WROOM-1-N8: the C6 gives 802.15.4, Wi-Fi 6, BLE and Matter, but 4 MB flash is too tight for Matter with OTA, so 8 MB is the minimum. It has no Ethernet MAC, so it needs an external PHY and an integrated-magnetics RJ45 magjack, which also saves about 15 mm of length on a 76 x 70 mm board. Relays driven through optocouplers with flyback diodes; Wiegand D0/D1 conditioned for 12 V open-collector instead of tied to GPIOs; the 12-24 V pass-through on its own fused branch so an external short cannot brown out the MCU. US$10-15 assembled is achievable on 2 layers with well-stocked parts; I estimate US$11-14. Four layers would add EMC and signal-integrity margin, which I would quote openly rather than absorb. Not included: firmware, a separate design-review document, assembly labour on your side, or changes past the revision count. Best regards, Hamza

Hello Luca, I can design this compact production-ready controller in EasyEDA, optimized specifically for JLCPCB/LCSC assembly. For the architecture, I would start with ESP32-C6 because it provides Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth LE, Zigbee and Thread/Matter support, with USB for direct programming. I’ll select the appropriate memory configuration and validate the final variant before layout. The design will include: • 12–24V protected input + protected voltage pass-through • USB-C programming with BOOT/RESET • Ethernet • 2 isolated relay outputs • 2 protected Wiegand inputs • Expansion connector • Proper RF/antenna keep-out and grounding • ESD/transient protection and DFM • JLCPCB/LCSC-available components with exact part numbers I have experience designing ESP32/STM32 IoT, industrial and automotive PCBs, including power protection, Ethernet, CAN/RS485, RF, relays and JLCPCB manufacturing. Fixed price: $200 Timeline: 7-14 days I’ll provide the complete EasyEDA source, schematic, PCB, BOM, CPL, Gerbers, drill files and manufacturing documentation. Based on the architecture and careful component selection, I believe the $10–15 assembled target is achievable, subject to final component pricing and Ethernet/relay selection. I can also provide relevant PCB examples from my portfolio. Best regards, Mahmoud
