Small start up site with a few searchable pages at present. I have Google Custom Search business edition and have inserted the standard html form. [url removed, login to view] is present. [url removed, login to view] is also present. It works OK and displays in an iframe on my results page. But I need some tweaking done:
1. I need to reduce the amount of results displayed from Google's standard 10 to 8 because they are pushing my footer down. Or reduce font size?
2. Current search is haphazard and does not display the most relevant pages, so I need to control this by making the page title first and body content second.
Apparently, It's supposed to be easy to make custom changes using Google's webmaster tools, utilising their XML API to control things. But I haven't got a clue about XML.
So I need someone who has worked on Google Custom Search before and can follow Google XML API instructions to come up with the lines of code. I will then paste in the code to the rest of the pages on the site.
I'm assuming this is a straightforward job for anyone who understands XML and can follow Google's instructions ;-)
