I need a WindowsXP based program written for the following machine...
Definition of machine:
A desktop computer with a USB Barcode Scanner connected. The computer is connected to the internet via a DSL modem.
Theory of Operations:
The computer program runs in a stand-by loop until a barcode label is sensed under the omnidirectional barcode scanner. During this stand-by loop, a short instructional video showing how to place a barcoded product under the scanner is displayed on the computer monitor and loops until a barcode is sensed.
When a barcode is sensed, the monitor screen displays a still photo with a "PLEASE STAND BY . . . SEARCH IN PROGRESS" message. The program reads the barcode and searches a database of video files for a match. If no match is found, the monitor screen displays a still photo with a "NO MATCH FOUND" message and the program returns to its original stand-by loop. If a match is found, the computer plays the matching MOV video file. When the video file ends, the program returns to its original stand-by loop and waits for another barcode scan.
Database Updating Methods:
Method 1 - Automatic updates via a server website on the internet. Once a day the computer automatically logs onto a remote server and checks for any newly posted video files. If new files are found, the computer downloads them and places each file into the database.
Method 2 - New video files can be manually uploaded to the computer database from a remote site via FTP, VNC, etc.
Can this be done? Please PM me for more information.
