You are bidding on a project to join me on MS-Teams for screen-share and voice sessions (no video needed) to finish configuring my new wifi access point on a mikrotik CCR2116-12G-4S+. I would like to do all work via ssh on both devices so I can record all commands. IMPORTANT: You will not have direct access. I will have ssh access and screen-share the ssh session with you via teams so you join me in troubleshooting it and finishing the setup. If you need access to an AI assistant on your end, that's perfectly fine, just we cannot share sensitive network information with it or other parties. In more detail: I have a new cAP ax wifi antenna which must be provisioned and added to my mikrotik CCR2116-12G-4S+ which already has 2 identical wifi APs. My two existing cAP ax access points are managed by CAPsMAN (RouterOS 7.22.3) running on the CCR2116. They use WPA3-Enterprise authentication, with certificates for CAPsMAN management and a RADIUS server for client authentication. I have already configured the new cAP with the cert and the CCR2116 already recognizes it and it is a member of the vlans where it needs to be. The problem now is that CAPsMAN does not recognize the new AP. We need to finish all configuration so the new AP functions exactly like the other 2.

Bid: $27 — Finish New cAP ax Join to Existing CAPsMAN Why I’m a fit I’ve run MikroTik CAPsMAN deployments on CCR routers (CCR2004/CCR2116 class) with cAP ax units in mixed fleets, including the exact failure mode you’re hitting — cert is trusted, device shows up in `/caps-man registration-table`, but doesn’t promote to a provisioned AP. It’s almost always one of three things: 1. Certificate Common Name mismatch — CAPsMAN matches the AP by the CN in its cert against the expected name pattern. If your two existing units were provisioned before you standardized the CN, the new one is silently rejected even though the cert validates. 2. Radio/channel/profile not matching the new hardware revision — cAP ax has dual-band radios; if CAPsMAN’s `datapath`/`configuration` profile doesn’t list both, or the channel list excludes what the new radio is advertising, it stays unregistered. 3. Bridge/VLAN tagging on the AP-side uplink port — different from the working pair. What I’ll do in the session (ssh-only, all commands logged) - Pull `/caps-man registration-table`, `/caps-man interface print`, `/caps-man provisioning print`, `/interface bridge port print`, `/certificate print detail` - Diff working APs vs new one: cert CN, radio MAC, bridge port PVID, caps-man identity - Fix the root cause (likely cert re-issue or `provisioning` rule edit)

Hi, The main issue is getting the new cAP ax adopted by CAPsMAN and matching the working configuration of your existing two APs, without changing anything unnecessarily. I’m comfortable troubleshooting RouterOS 7, CAPsMAN, VLANs, certificates, WPA3-Enterprise and RADIUS, and I can work entirely through your SSH session over Teams so every command is visible and recorded. I’d first compare the new AP’s CAP configuration and discovery/adoption state against the two working cAP ax units, identify the mismatch, then make the minimum required changes and verify client authentication, VLAN assignment and wireless operation. I’ll work only through your shared SSH session; no direct access is required. Let's connect and get started soon. Best regards, Binaya T.

I can help finish this live MikroTik CAPsMAN setup over MS-Teams by working through SSH only, exactly as requested. Since your two existing cAP ax units already work on RouterOS 7.22.3 with WPA3-Enterprise, certificates, and RADIUS, I’ll focus on making the new cAP ax match the current CAPsMAN configuration and identifying why it is not being recognized. We can proceed methodically: verify CAPsMAN provisioning and discovery, compare the new AP’s identity and radio settings to the working units, check certificate trust and management connectivity, and confirm the VLAN and CAPsMAN parameters needed for the AP to register correctly. I’ll keep the process command-based so you can record every step. My goal is to get the third cAP ax functioning identically to the other two with minimal disruption to your existing Wi-Fi service. I’m ready to start from the current SSH state and troubleshoot live until the AP joins CAPsMAN correctly.

Hello, The key part of this project is **getting the new cAP ax fully adopted by CAPsMAN so it behaves exactly like your existing two access points over SSH**. I can help you handle this accurately and efficiently without overcomplicating the process. I have hands-on experience with **Linux, System Administration, and Network Security**, including troubleshooting RouterOS-style access and authentication flows in managed WiFi setups. For your project, I would focus on **CAPsMAN provisioning**, **WPA3-Enterprise/RADIUS validation**, and **certificate and VLAN alignment checks**, while making sure the final result is **stable and matches the current AP behavior**. I can start immediately and expect to complete this within 3 hours. One detail I'd like to confirm before starting: **is the new cAP ax already set to the same CAPsMAN datapath and provisioning rule as the other two APs**? Best regards, Miguel

Hi there, The hard part is ensuring the new cAP ax is fully integrated into the existing CAPsMAN setup without disrupting your current network. Since the new AP is already recognized by the CCR2116, the challenge lies primarily in configuring its settings to match the other access points effectively. I can assist you with the SSH commands needed to finalize the configuration, ensuring the new access point mirrors the functionality of your existing devices. We can address any potential issues with CAPsMAN recognition during our sessions. Could you confirm if there are specific settings or features from the existing APs that you want to ensure are replicated in the new one? Looking forward to discussing the details in chat.

Hello, I understand you need to finish provisioning one new cAP ax so it joins CAPsMAN and behaves exactly like your two existing APs, while preserving your VLANs, certificates, WPA3 Enterprise, and RADIUS setup. I can help diagnose the CAPsMAN discovery and provisioning issue by comparing the new AP configuration against the working cAP ax units and tracing the registration path from the CCR2116. I can work through SSH and provide clear commands you can record and keep for future reference. I can also help identify whether the issue is CAP mode, certificate trust, CAPsMAN provisioning rules, interfaces, or RouterOS configuration differences. Could you share sanitized exports from the CCR2116, one working cAP ax, and the new cAP ax? Also, does the new AP appear in any CAPsMAN registration or log output? Best regards, Bojan Spasic

Hi, Clear technical direction ensures a smooth RouterOS setup, and keeping that in mind, I can complete the provision of your new cAP ax so it mirrors your existing deployment. I am ready to start immediately by joining your MS-Teams screen-share to execute all steps via SSH. My approach focuses on reviewing your current CAPsMAN interface configs, verifying certificate bindings, and applying the matching provisioning rules. Let me know if the remote cAP ax is currently showing as an authorized CAP device in the main router system log. Recently, I worked on a similar project involving a multi-site MikroTik wireless deployment. The setup was built to centralize access point management across isolated VLANs using CAPsMAN on RouterOS 7. I configured the SSH command pipelines, verified RADIUS settings, and mapped WPA3-Enterprise security profiles across all CAP devices. I look forward to discussing the project further and helping bring your vision to life. Best, Ariba

Hi, You're finishing provisioning a new cAP ax on the MikroTik CCR2116 that should join two CAPsMAN-managed APs. I’ve handled similar MikroTik CAPsMAN upgrades where a new AP enrolls with the same WPA3-Enterprise policy, certificates, and RADIUS flow. I’ve done SSH-based provisioning for CAPsMAN in production environments. I’d start by validating CAPsMAN's AP registry and certificate trust, then push provisioning to new AP and watch for binding. I’ll verify client authentication and VLAN tagging with a quick test and capture the commands for audit. CAPsMAN state caching can delay recognition of the new AP; a reload or rebind may be needed. What should we do if CAPsMAN fails to recognize the AP after provisioning, a rebind under the same profile or a reset and redo? Are there any maintenance window constraints, and where should I store the command log for later review? If we're aligned, I'd be happy to walk you through the implementation plan before we get started. Best regards, Brandon

Hello, I can help you complete the configuration of your new MikroTik cAP ax and get it working consistently with your two existing CAPsMAN-managed APs. I understand your setup includes: * MikroTik CCR2116-12G-4S+ * RouterOS 7.22.3 * CAPsMAN management * WPA3-Enterprise * Certificate-based CAPsMAN management * RADIUS authentication * VLAN-based network configuration * Multiple cAP ax access points Since the new AP is already recognized by the CCR2116 and the required certificate/VLAN configuration is in place, I would focus on identifying why CAPsMAN is not recognizing/adopting the new cAP ax and then matching its configuration with the existing APs. I’m comfortable working through SSH and can keep the troubleshooting process command-based so you can record the complete session. I’ll also compare the working AP configuration with the new device and make changes carefully to avoid affecting the existing wireless network. I can provide clear explanations of each command and verify connectivity, CAPsMAN adoption, certificates, RADIUS authentication, VLANs, and wireless configuration after the changes. I’m available to work with you through an MS Teams screen-share session. Best regards, Akshay Kumar Patel
