I’m working on a desktop computer that still relies on a 2.4 GHz connection. I’ve confirmed the current Wi-Fi adapter does not support 5 GHz, yet I’d like this machine to connect to modern dual-band routers without replacing the entire PC. Here’s what I need from you: • Identify a reliable, affordable 5 GHz-capable adapter that is compatible with my motherboard and operating system. • Explain any driver or BIOS settings I’ll need to adjust. • Provide clear, step-by-step instructions for installation—hardware swap or USB option—so I can do the upgrade myself with basic tools. • Walk me through connecting to a 5 GHz network and verifying performance once the hardware is in. A short call or screen-share to confirm the adapter choice and final setup would be ideal.
