I have a cross-browser HTML template that is working. But the CSS structure is a little complex. It needs to be simplified, and then documented in the CSS and with a style reference guide that explains with diagrams what to change in the CSS and the effects. The purpose is to make it easier to reuse the template for a wide variety of layouts without changing the HTML. This might require a little HTML cleanup for css classes. But the main requirement is expert knowledge of CSS and proper cascading rules, and when to use classes or id's, and attributes. All CSS must be easy to understand how to change the CSS to apply new color/font/style themes, background image elements, and adjust dimensions.
Must be 100% cross-browser in FF3+, IE7+, Chrome, and Safari3+, on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Final test/requirement is to create 6 different page layout samples just by overriding the CSS in a new CSS file that is acquired.
Layout options include.
- liquid width (on header, main body, and footer)
- fixed width (on header, main body, and footer)
- 1,2, and 3 column layouts
Layouts must be created just by editing some CSS and adding new CSS, not the HTML.
I want to see references to portfolio projects that reference comprehensive CSS development, and demonstrates an expert CSS knowledge and working on large CMS and templated site projects.
The requirement is the same CSS design approach as CSS Zen Garden. We have a single HTML file. And the design customization is done in the CSS. The requirement includes documenting the CSS in an external document listing each major CSS class and describing its control. The documentation shall demonstrate how different major CSS classes control major layout elements in the page. And the documentation must include sample variations for the CSS properties to achieve significantly different styles and designs, to be a technical reference to achieve variations, but to also help the design user understand the power of the CSS classes and be more creative.
I would like to see documentation examples.
The CSS must be validated CSS1, with a little CSS2.
Explain how you to your CSS testing and validation.
And the CSS will be validated against the design patterns suggested in 70 Expert Ideas For Better CSS Coding http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2007/05/10/70-expert-ideas-for-better-css-coding/
Provide feedback on how your experience will achieve the technical goals and final project acceptance.
