SOFT6007 Web Development – Autumn Project
Due: Monday 17th August 2020 @ 23:59 – upload through Canvas.
Part 1 – Website 80%
Create a website for a new social club for CIT students.
As a result of the current coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and the ongoing social restrictions, you have decided to set up a new social club for students of CIT.
The focus of the social club will be providing a virtual experience and space for students to meet up and participate in activities with other students.
The social club can have a varied list of activities or be more focused on one or two activities, that is up to you.
Some suggestions include: organising virtual coffee mornings, health and fitness (with online fitness classes organised), Lego building, arts and crafts, Yoga/Pilates classes, etc.
The website should be suitably themed and should include:
1. A Home page
o Welcome visitor and introduce visitor to the club.
o Include an embedded video from YouTube or Vimeo, this can be specific to an activity or can be a video about CIT.
2. A Schedule/Events page
o Upcoming events – (use a table)
Include a day, time and some information for each event you add to the table.
Specify the platform the event will take place on – e.g. Zoom, WhatsApp, Viber, etc.
Include a web address if it is relevant to the event – e.g. PE with Joe
Events do not have to be online so if you have an event set in a reallocation include some social distancing guidelines (e.g. maximum number of participants).
o Add a minimum of four events, see above for suggestions.
3. Contact Us Page
o Address and Phone number – you can use CIT’s details for this task.
o Email – use your own [login to view URL] email address here.
o Map (embedded from Google Maps).
4. Membership Information and Request page
o Email address
o Contact Number
o Date started in CIT (use drop down lists – day, month & year)
You should list ten years: 2010 - 2020
o Activities you are interested in
List 3 – 4 different activities here
o YES/NO radio buttons to give the user the option to join the newsletter mailing list – set NO to the default option for GDPR purposes.
o Special requests / information request [optional]
o Submit and Cancel buttons
o Use [login to view URL] to verify that your form sends the data from the form to the server – very important
All content must be marked up using HTML5.
All text must be your own, although you can take images from the Internet, but add a comment in the code referencing the source of the image (note: Google Images is not enough as a reference).
There should be a navigation menu that appears on each page, linking to all the pages on the website. Please ensure that you use relative addressing so that the links will work on any device not just the computer you create the website on.
