I am an experienced university instructor and so are my friends.
We often teach online but do not have the tools we want available to
help us teach the way we want to teach remote students.
We want a contractor to build us a basic site (not fancy graphics) using open source software (Ubuntu, Drupal, Moodle, Dimdim, OpenLDAP, LAMP/mySQL) that lets instructors and students work together.
We want to use Drupal 6 and OpenLDAP on Ubuntu on our server to put together a very simple website using a standard drupal 3 column website where openldap administers the users and access to drupal, moodle, and dimdim resources.
We want someone with experience and examples of their work:
-to install, test, demo and document OpenLDAP and the OpenLDAP module in our Drupal 6 install
-to install, test, demo and document the drupal-moodle integration module
-to install the current stable version of moodle and supporting applications on our server
-to install the current stable version of dimdim and supporting applications on our server
-to install the moodle-dimdim integration module
-to build two demonstration class moodles each with separate instructors and students (the classes can be basic examples with standard templates or clones)
-to enable dimdim rooms to be launched from within the moodle demo classrooms
All of this should be based on the following roles to be created:
Access should be appropriate to roles.
We will provide you access to our servers and accounts with the necessary privileges to perform the work. We want a simple turnkey example with enough documentation to allow us to add users, classrooms etc.
We would like to see examples of your previous work since we would like experienced people with the applications we chose to work with.
We expect to see demonstrations before we accept the work.
We are not looking for fancy graphics, or major template design changes, etc. We are looking for function for administrators, instructors and students.
aloha and thanks
