I have developed a modular infotainment system. I need an interactive website that allows a user to design their own layout of this system, using preset sizes and color options, very similar to what you see on an automotive "build your own" website. They need to be able to choose from a list of things that they would provide. For example, if they have a 50inch Sony LED TV, an Xbox one, a Playstation 4, a Hulu, and a sound bar, the site would take size info, which I have, for all these things, and automatically display what minimum size sections they need to house these items. I want the site to display a graphic representation of what their final product will look like. I would, of course, provide pictures of units, plus I need graphic representations of these things. It could start with a template, or a choice of templates, that would then be sized based on measurements they take in their home. Then they can choose from groupings of my product to "build" their unit, so they can see what their color choices will look like and how it will fit in the space they specify.
I want to also be able to take payments/orders through the site. I would expect that there could be a running cost tally alongside of the graphics of their project, so they can watch the amount as they build....again, very much like an automobile manufacturer's website.
Obviously, email notifications would be generated by a purchase. If possible, I would also like for a purchase to generate a script that can create a file that can be inserted into my manufacturing software, so that each time an order is placed, there is an accompanying file to open with my software. I don't expect the web-generated file to be able to automatically open and run code for my CNC machinery (although that would be awesome!), but I do expect to at least have a starting-point file created for each order with all the relevant info, such as contact info for the customer and details of their project, like color and sizes.
I use a car builder site as an example, but this should be on the simpler side of that. The graphics would be much simpler than car photographs that can be modified. A simple graphic representation of my product could amount to just colored squares against a backdrop that is a wall. I would like it to be nicer than that, ultimately, but that is essentially what it would display. Depending on the difficulty and price I will opt for more realistic graphics.
Links, of course, to partner sites, and to YouTube videos of the product, how to install it, final project pics, etc. The videos and pictures will be provided, of course.
Contractor might also provide a little insight into what is the best way to host and publish the site. Currently, I only have purchased domain names.
