GSA, Washington, D.C. – 9/25/2008 –
This morning, James A. Williams, Acting Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administation (GSA) named Barney Brasseux as the new Deputy Commissioner of GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service. GSA manages more than 100 world-class child care centers in federal buildings around the country.
In naming Brasseux, Williams’ called him a committed public servant, “The leadership skills, knowledge, and energy that Barney has demonstrated as Deputy Commissioner and Acting Commissioner of FAS give me great confidence in his ability to help me lead GSA in this role. GSA is fortunate to have Barney, a committed public servant, serving in this position on a permanent basis as we head into a Presidential transition.”
Brasseux’s federal career began as Assistant Commissioner for Travel, Motor Vehicle, and Card Services. He was then named Assistant Commissioner for Vehicle Acquisition and Leasing Services. Later, Brasseux became Chief of Staff for GSA’s former Federal Supply Service.
As Deputy Commissioner of FAS, Brasseux was responsible for 4,000 employees. FAS provides 48-billion-dollars worth of best-value services, products and solutions to federal customers that increase overall government effectiveness and efficiency.
Barney Brasseux is a member of the career Senior Executive Service, and received a Presidential Rank Award of Meritorious Executive in 2007. Brasseux attended Louisiana Tech University and Louisiana State University – Shreveport in marketing and business administration.
