The task is to fix [login to view URL] playlist instance: 1) Playlist items to should play sequentially (i.e. at end of one video, proceed to the next in the playlist). At the moment, the first item loops and playlist does not advance. 2) Clicking on 'Part 1' 'Part 2' 'Part 3' in the description should take the player to each playlist item. Cannot edit core files, but can modify inline Javascript to fix the issue.

A first item that loops instead of advancing almost always means the `loop` attribute is set on the media element or in the player options, which suppresses the `ended` event the playlist plugin relies on to move to the next track — so that's the first thing I'd check before touching any handler logic. The fix works entirely from inline JS: grab the instance inside the `success` callback, clear the loop flag, and bind an `ended` listener that advances the playlist index and calls `setSrc` plus `load` and `play`, guarding against the double-fire that happens on some browsers. For the Part 1/2/3 links I'd attach click handlers that jump to the matching index through the same function, with `preventDefault` so the page doesn't scroll away, and mark the active item so the player and description stay in sync. No core files touched. I'd verify the full run in Chrome, Firefox and on mobile Safari — the autoplay policy blocks the next item silently on iOS unless it's muted or user-initiated, which is worth confirming rather than discovering later. Happy to start as soon as you send the page URL.

Hello, I see that you need help fixing a playlist issue with MediaElement.js. It sounds like the videos aren’t advancing automatically after one ends, and the navigation through the playlist items isn’t working as intended. I would tackle this by adjusting the inline JavaScript to ensure the videos play sequentially and that the buttons work correctly to switch between parts. With 7+ years of experience in web development, especially with JavaScript and debugging, I’m confident in my ability to resolve this issue effectively. My background in frontend development has equipped me with the skills to quickly identify and fix such problems without altering core files. You can check out my work at https://pixoriq.com. One question I have is whether there are any specific behaviors or features you'd like to see when transitioning between the videos in the playlist? Best regards, Ivan Mandinski

Hi, I am Adeel. I work regularly with jQuery and vanilla JS plugin integrations, including patching third-party players without touching core files, similar to work I have done on ChamberOfCommerce and other JS-heavy frontends. The looping issue is almost always the playlist advance handler not being bound to the ended event, and the Part links likely need a click handler that calls the player's setSrc or playlist index method instead of just an anchor jump. I would add an inline script that hooks into the MediaElement success callback, wires ended to advance the index, and rebinds the Part links to trigger that same index change. Can you share the current playlist markup or a link to the page so I can confirm the exact instance structure?

Hi, I can fix this — sounds like the "ended" event isn't wired to advance the playlist, and the Part links just need click handlers pointed at the right playlist index. Both fixable with inline JS, no core files touched. Could you share the page URL so I can check the current markup/setup? Happy to start at $25 AUD, turned around same day.

Hello, Nicolas is based in Brazil and can communicate directly with clients in Portuguese, including meetings when necessary, which makes debugging details easier to clarify. The likely issue here is the playlist state or MediaElement event handling, where the player reaches the end but the next item is never triggered, while the description links also need to target the correct playlist index. I would inspect the current initialization and inline JavaScript first, then hook into the appropriate MediaElement playback event to advance the playlist without touching core files. The Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 links can be mapped directly to their corresponding playlist items. I would test sequential playback, manual selection, repeated navigation, and the final item to make sure there are no unwanted loops. One question: can you provide the current MediaElement initialization JavaScript and the HTML for the Part 1 to Part 3 links? I can take a look at the current setup and suggest the cleanest approach. Is the playlist one video tag with several sources, or separate items the inline script swaps in? Parts that never get past Part 1 mean viewers simply stop watching, so it is worth fixing properly. My guess is that both symptoms have one cause: the inline script sets up the player but never really hands control to the playlist, so the end of a video is treated as a loop and the Part links have nothing to talk to. I would confirm that first. How I would work: 1. Reproduce both issues and note what the player reports at the end of Part 1. 2. Compare the inline setup with how the playlist feature expects to be initialised. 3. Rule out conflicts with other scripts on the page. 4. Fix the one cause in the inline JavaScript only, core files untouched. 5. Retest sequential play and all Part links on desktop and mobile. I have 9+ years of JavaScript and PHP work, including media-heavy CMS pages and a lot of jQuery debugging on live sites. My profile here is new, so the price is low and you accept only once it works on your page. Done within a day, with a short note of what changed. Can you share the page URL or the inline script? Hi, Your project doesn't need someone who simply follows the brief. It needs someone who understands what you're trying to achieve and figures out how to get you there. That's how I approach projects. Before writing code or jumping into execution, I want to understand the problem, the goal, and what success actually looks like for your business. I've spent the last several years turning business problems into working digital products, leading developers and designers, managing projects from idea to delivery, and delivering 40+ web and mobile projects. Do I know everything? Absolutely not. But I know how to solve problems. If I don't have the answer, I'll find it. I'll research, learn, test, ask the right questions, and keep working until we have a solution. And once I'm on board: It's our business. Our problem. Our responsibility. I'll give you my honest opinion, challenge ideas when I see a better approach, and never agree just for the sake of keeping things comfortable. I work with clients because I care about building things that succeed. If you're looking for someone who will take ownership rather than simply complete tasks, I'd be happy to learn more about what you're building.
