hello, The two hardest requirements in this whole brief are the two you have rightly made non-negotiable, the true double-entry engine and complete multi-tenant data isolation, and everything else is modules built on top of those. The accounting engine's core rule, that every posted transaction balances and posted entries are never silently edited but corrected through reversals, is what makes the entire system auditable, so that posting logic has to be built atomically and correctly first, since every report, the Trial Balance, P&L, Balance Sheet, is only as trustworthy as the ledger beneath it. Multi-tenancy is the other foundation, since isolating each company's data cleanly at the architecture level is nearly impossible to retrofit once real businesses are on board. So I would build the tenant model and the double-entry ledger before any module, then layer A/R, A/P, cashbook, and inventory on as consumers of that ledger, since each one ultimately just posts balanced journal entries. The inventory being fully integrated with accounting is a common failure point, since stock movements have to generate the right ledger postings automatically, so I would design those together rather than bolting inventory on later. One shared accounting core then feeds the web app and the iOS and Android builds through a common API, so the numbers are identical everywhere. Is this launching multi-currency from day one, or single base currency first, since full multi-currency accounting adds real complexity to the engine?
