Twenty VMs on one host means picking upfront whether they sit on bridged IPs or behind NAT with forwarded ports. Bridged is cleaner for RDP and VNC over broadband and easier to debug USB passthrough on, but it burns twenty addresses off your LAN and needs the host NIC in promiscuous mode, which not every provider allows. NAT is safer to set up blind, but the handover doc ends up with twenty sets of forwarded ports instead of clean IPs. I'd want to know which one your box can actually do before touching VBoxManage. Once that's settled I'd build one hardened Arch base and one hardened Mint base, shared folders, USB passthrough, guest additions and RDP/VNC all tuned and tested on each, then clone out to all twenty with a scripted VBoxManage pass so every VM comes out identical rather than built by hand twenty times. M1: both base images hardened, shared folders, USB and guest additions working, $250, 2 days. M2: RDP/VNC tuned for broadband, networking wired and tested on both bases, $250, 2 days. M3: clone script run across all 20, credentials handover doc, $250, 2 days. This is priced off the brief as posted. If promiscuous mode turns out to be blocked on your host and I need the NAT workaround across twenty ports instead, that'll move the number once I'm actually on the box. Is the host bare metal or already virtualized, and any preference between RDP and VNC as the primary protocol, or is either fine per distro?
