I have developed a database in MS Access 2002 for handling projects. I need to link the projects in this database to email in Outlook 2002. I have already developed the database to send emails using outlook. When an email is sent, the project number is placed in the subject line along with the subject. If a reply is received, the project number will still be in the subject line.
I have a button on my projects form in my database which needs to look at the project number, then open the Inbox in Outlook, then filter the Inbox to only show emails where the subject contains the project number.
This needs to work in the same way for another button to show sent messages for the project.
I will also need a button in Outlook that when pressed will run a macro I have created in Access. This macro creates a new project number, then opens the project form and displays the project number. After the macro has run I need code which will copy the new project number on the form to the beginning of the subject of the selected email in the Inbox.
For developing purposes I would ask that you create a dummy projects form named frmProjectDetails with 2 buttons named cmdReceivedEmail and cmdSentEmail. Also the form should contain a field to display a project number named ProjectNumber. Also create a simple macro named mcrCreateNewProjectFromEmail which opens the frmProjectDetails and adds a number to the project number. With this you should be able to test your code without having to use my database. Once you have completed this project and I have received it, I will copy the code back into my current Database.
