I do not need the entire project coded. What I am looking for is a simple framework or example of how to do the following:
I would like to be able to retrieve a record/list of records from any database table. fill an "object" with the database record - and this object then binds to the controls. later save the record back to the database. Sounds straightforward.
What I am concerned with understanding what is the best object to hold and bind the data to controls. With the caveat that I would like to be able to use the existing vb code from an existing app, which uses a custom object named "Record" that is not available in the new VB .Net project. So I am trying to recreate that object. I need to define a new class called Record, and add the needed methods (.fill, .getfield, .setfield, .contents). Also there is an object Called list, which is a list of this record type. I also need an example of how this list would be represented.
I do not need the object methods coded. I just need an example of how to define the object Record, and be able to assign it as a entity model type, and how to bind a record to a winform control.
(See [url removed, login to view] file) So, assume you have entity models address and contact, controls txtAddress1, txtFirstName, etc.. Need a mechanism to bind these controls to the entity model type objects, which are retrieved from the database. The retrieving and saving will be done outside the entity framework, so do not need a strong binding from control to database.
If you need more information then please ask.
