I’m moving from concept to bench-top reality on a new battery pack and I need an R&D hardware engineer who is equally comfortable with Battery Management Systems like Anker 737 & thermal control hardware. I’m looking someone with a hands-on specialist who can own the phase, turning those drawings into a working assembly that can survive abuse testing and provide clean, reliable data. Your day-to-day focus will be: • Circuit design for the BMS daughter-boards, including cell-balancing, current-sense, protection FETs and all supporting analog/digital interfaces. • Thermal analysis of the pack and its integrated cold-plate, using your calculations to specify sensors, heaters, interface materials and control loops before committing them to hardware. Once the schematics and thermal stack-up are frozen, you’ll drive the board spins, source parts, assemble the prototypes and bring them up in the lab. I already have a small test rig with programmable loads and an environmental chamber; you’ll script the characterisation runs, capture the data and recommend the next round of tweaks. Acceptance criteria – Functional BMS prototype that communicates over CAN and handles balancing / protection within spec – Thermal subsystem demonstrating ≤ 3 °C cell-to-cell delta at 2 C discharge in a 35 °C ambient chamber test – Full documentation set: schematics, BOM, Gerbers, thermal model and test report Note: few more modules & deliverables which I will explain over the chat. BMS & thermal management will plain main role, with other modules. Altium (or KiCad), MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS/Icepak or equivalent should feel like home to you. If this sounds like the kind of deep-dive hardware sprint you enjoy, let’s talk timelines and get the first boards on order.

For a BMS & Thermal Prototype Engineer, the hard part is balancing sensor scanning accuracy, battery life, Bluetooth/SIM fallback, and OTA-ready embedded reliability. I've handled similar builds involving Electronics, Electrical Engineering, PCB Layout, Circuit Design, usually where the important part was translating the brief into a reliable working system. My approach would be to validate the sensor matrix and power budget first, then design the acquisition PCB, embedded firmware, connectivity fallback, and OTA/admin controls in staged prototypes. For this project, I would focus especially on: - Sensor front-end, matrix scanning strategy, MCU selection, and PCB layout - Battery/power budget, Bluetooth setup, SIM fallback, buffering, and geolocation - OTA firmware, remote activation/deactivation, ownership reset, and admin controls If helpful, I can outline the sensor-to-cloud prototype plan and PCB/firmware risk checklist before committing to the full board. The hardest part of this job is integrating the BMS daughter-boards with the thermal control hardware, making sure they talk to each other correctly under load. I would build the BMS daughter-boards first, focusing on the circuit design for cell-balancing and protection FETs, also the current-sense circuits, using Altium Designer for PCB layout. Then I would tackle the thermal analysis of the pack and its cold-plate, specifying sensors, heaters, and interface materials based on calculations, so I can design the control loops before committing them to hardware. I'd use MATLAB for the thermal calculations. This order works because the BMS has to be solid before I can build the control loops that manage the thermal system based on its data. Track record on here: 100% on time, 100% on budget, 5.0 across 8 reviews. What are the target cell voltages and expected peak discharge currents for the battery pack? I propose a short call on Freelancer to settle the scope, covering the specific BMS IC you intend to use and the communication protocol for the thermal control interface.

Hi I am available to take this on and get your battery pack R&D hardware working perfectly. The main issue with partially built BMS designs is usually the cell-balancing tolerances or thermal stack-up not lining up for high-discharge environments specifically. Are you planning to use Altium or KiCad for the daughter-boards and do you want the characterisation scripts integrated with Python or MATLAB? I recently fixed a similar hardware prototype for a power systems firm that needed custom BMS metadata injected into CAN telemetry. I used Altium and ANSYS to hook into the thermal control loop and built a React-based monitoring dashboard that validated inputs before using the setBodyAsync equivalent methods to update the test logs. I corrected their schematic and thermal interface XML structure to ensure the temperature delta stayed within limits across varying ambient chambers. My fix stopped their pack data from being lost during abuse testing and made the whole characterisation process way faster for their team. We are eager to discuss the project further. Reach out to initiate a conversation! Best regards, Quantum Code Solutions
