SQL Server Query Optimization

hello I think you could benefit a lot from an indexed view since you have many joins . I havent seen the exec plan but optimizing that sort of queries would require looking the table sizes , indexes , execution plans and other things .

I have worked as DBA for large ERP databases and use to write and do performance tuning for SQL queries, procedures and triggers. Query speed depends on various factors. if it involves huge data, then it can be genuinely slow, where we may not be able to do much. but if the query is written badly, then we can rewrite the query to make it faster. indexes can help in some scenarios. can we please discuss on your specific cases and give ahead? Hello. Have big experience as Senior Database Developer/DBA. Expert in MS SQL. I Know well T-SQL and query optimization. I Checked your query, but didn't find exec plan. And I can't get exec plan without DB access or dump. May be I try to optimize yor query, but I need access to DB or dump(with info, how many data rows in tables from query).

I have reviewed your query and can see some quick improvement wins (e.g. you can change your UNION statements to UNION ALL as you are assigning a unique ID To each query and UNION ALL will be more performant in this situation). If you don't have often insert update into this table, that it will be nice to add indexes. for table MNHHS_custom_ERF_ReceivedMessageView (receivedMessageId, isOpen index) for ERF_ReferralRequestView (receivedMessageId, status, referralRequestVersion index) for ERF_ReferralView (StatusCode, ServiceCode index) OR other suggestion in the union selects for ID 1, 2, and 5 the conditions that are in WHERE for the LEFT table to put in LEFT JOIN ON not in WHERE it will not select all the LEFT table rows and then filter by where. AND other suggestion in the union selects for ID 3,4,7 you don't need a CASE because don't have JOIN, all rows are filtered by WHERE don't have other rows of COUNT(NULL)
