If you're a Debian Linux developer (Ubuntu) go ahead and read:A desktop plugin/app (I hate to call it widget since the term is restrictive, but behaves like one) that fetches records from Kodi sqlite database and nfo files (stored locally on the system) and displays them as a slide or a grid.
You can check some Kodi skins for graphical and behavioral reference. But I will attach some pictures to help. The plugin should display the stored artwork and meta data (film synopsis...) and on focus pause the slide and zoom out the artwork. On click it should launch the media file with Kodi. The plugin should give the user the option whether to display records belonging to movies or TV shows or music or all of them. For now it should be packaged for Debian/Ubuntu and coded in qt/gtk3 (if you think you can produce better results in a different language go ahead). It should be possible to be skinned and plugged (to display data from different apps or clients). This app is part of bigger project, a whole desktop shell in fact, so the whole thing should be controlled (when all dev is completed) by a global settings/skin (theme) manager that controls the the look and behavior of the whole shell and its parts, but for now, and for presentation purposes, a separate gui for settings should be packaged with the app as well. Just keep in my mind that this temporary so add some nice apis maybe.
The plugin should take 1/3 of the screen but of course it can be resized through the settings gui. Please send me message for more info. I'm funding this myself and my budget is tight since i have other parts of the shell squeezing the budget. So for the glory of FOSS do not bankrupt me.
