Autonomous Cleaning Robot / Drone

Need to build an autonomous outdoor robot / drone. The drone will be used for cleaning small sections of concrete or asphalt. Control of the cleaning machines is beyond the scope of this project, all this project needs to produce is a platform the cleaning heads can be attached that will navigate the work area as required.

Background: We have sections of roadway that require cleaning. We presently clean manually moving the cleaning heads to wash the areas. We would like to automate this simple process to free up the worker to focus on other details of the task.

We are looking for someone that can design, engineer and if needed help build a platform that can navigate the work area that we will attach the cleaning heads to so it cleans as it moves.

4 wheel robot to house / hold 18” round to a 30” oval shaped cleaner head.

The water-based cleaner head is omni-directional.

Robot is to move according to user settings at speeds from 1” per second to 12” per second.

Robot needs to utilize a logical path to progress around the obstruction free work area so that it covers all areas of the work area.

Robot will be used on hard surfaces such as asphalt and concrete roadways. Work area will be made obstruction free, however may contain gentle slopes, holes >2”x2”x2” or loose aggregate such as small stones, dirt et cetera

Work Area will typically be a roadway 15’-25’ ft wide and 20’ to 45’ long, usually made of concrete.

The robot will be used at variable locations so defining the work area(s) must be quick, accurate within an inch and mobile to move from site to site and easy to use and deploy with minimal training.

Ideally work areas of 200’ long or more would be possible. Curved work areas are possible and being able to easily define curved work areas to the robot would be desirable.

Some feed hose frictional drag will be possible (water hoses, soap hoses, vacuum hoses ) on the ground as the range increases, although minor the drone must have enough power to drag feed hoses...

Work areas are generally outside.

GPS or corner work area markers can be used to define work area

While gas power is possible 12vdc such as off of a vehicle would be ideal. A rechargeable battery onboard may be possible or a 12 vdc cable can be run to the unit.

While simple corner markers could be used to define work areas ideal would be GPS and a map on a screen giving drone position on roadway. this is ideal but not critical

Prefer off the shelf inexpensive parts where possible. Arduino or simular controller preferred.

Mac & PC - Mac is preferred.

Ideally built to be able to meet the demands of doing 10 road sections per day.
