A cut-out model trained on opaque objects treats a transparent or faceted stone as background it should erase, so facets go milky, edges pick up a grey halo, and the stone loses the internal light that makes a buyer stop scrolling. That shows up on the live storefront, not in the thumbnail you approve. The way I do it: alpha matting rather than a hard mask, so semi transparent edges keep their gradient, then the stone is composited onto pure white or grey with a soft contact shadow that sits under it instead of floating. Original pixel dimensions untouched, no crop, no resize, shadow drawn inside the existing canvas. Upload goes through the Shopify Admin API matched by SKU, one image per product, so nothing lands on the wrong listing and you can see each one live afterwards. Free test before you decide: send three stones, ideally including your most transparent one, and I send back the finished files at full size.
