I am working on improving my website SEO. I have used a couple of free online site analysers and one come up with a particular problem. I use Yoast SEO and there seem to be a lot of old sitemaps hanging around. One of these free analysers found these sitemaps and marked my score down because a lot of the links don't exist anymore. I am a bit confused because using the file manager I just can't find these sitemaps to delete them. I don't understand how a site analyser found these sitemaps if I can't find them when searching but they clearly exist somewhere. For piece of mind I would like these sitemaps deleted and hopefully this will clear up any indexing issues and perceived broken links. Also please let me know where these sitemaps are so if they get created in the future and they are old I can delete them.
I have attached a screenshot of the issues this site analyser found. I am still working on some other basics, like improved titles and meta descriptions etc and don't need comments on these.
The second screen shot show the analyser commenting on files not found from old site maps.
Their support suggest that if they find this then google can and this can affect my ranking.
I made category and tags non indexable as in my opinion this is duplicate content . Can you confirm that this is a good thing to do.
I tried to make everything follow rather than no follow as this is suggested on the internet. I put a script I found into theme_funtions.php. There still seem to be be nofollow on my site on comments and links to social media. Can these be changed to follow unless you believe this is not a good idea.
I know there are hundreds of SEO jobs so apart from the basic that I am currently working on let me know if there are any quick wins that I should be doing.
