We have hired outside freelancers to setup an Amazon EC2 instance using an EBS block for persistent storage.
The server uses passenger (mod_rails) and Ruby-enterprise-edition.
Here is the scope of work:
1. We will need a second instance (and possibly third, fourth, etc) to be created which has our Rails webapp.
2. These 2 instances will need to work off of one mysql database (one ebs?).
3. The instances will need to be added/deleted automatically using "amazon autoscalling". This step I actually know how todo, a summary is covered here: [url removed, login to view]
4. Traffic will need to be routed to the different instances using fair-load balancing and not "round-robin" loadbalancing. I believe this is covered in passenger by default, but wanted to explicitly list it in the scope.
In your PM, please give a short detail of your experience with EC2 and a short plan-of-attack for this project.
