There is a commercial device called a Theratapper which is attached to two hand vibration units via a cable. See here: [login to view URL] The controller regulates speed, intensity etc, and outputs via a stereo cable, which splits into two mono cables, and the hand vibrators then buzz, adjusted accordingly. I want to make a much better version than this. I have a pair of the buzzers and want to reverse engineer them, first to be able to produce a better, lighter version, to then be attached via bluetooth, to an esp32 unit which I am designing for myself, and which will also include audio and visual emdr stimuli. I haven't taken the tappers apart and I want someone to do this, (I can send a pair), produce a circuit diagram, and optionally improve on the design, adding bluetooth functionality.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’ve gone through your idea—this is essentially reverse-engineering a haptic actuator + redesigning it into a lighter, wireless (BLE) system, which is very doable with the right teardown and measurement approach. How I’d handle it: 1. Teardown + analysis • Carefully disassemble your tappers (non-destructive) • Identify motor type (ERM vs LRA), driver method, wiring • Measure drive voltage/current, frequency response, intensity control • Produce a clean schematic + wiring map 2. Characterization • Determine what controls “feel” (PWM vs analog drive) • Capture vibration profiles (important for EMDR timing) 3. Improved design (optional upgrade) • Replace with LRA + driver (DRV2605L) for quieter, more precise haptics • Compact PCB + lightweight housing concept • Optimize power consumption + ergonomics 4. Bluetooth integration • ESP32-based control (BLE) • Adjustable intensity, patterns, left/right sync • Ready to integrate with your EMDR audio/visual system Deliverables: • Reverse-engineered schematic • Component list + measurements • Improved design (schematic + BOM) • Optional BLE prototype architecture Quick question: do you want to keep the same “feel” as original, or improve toward smoother, more controlled haptics (LRA-based)?

Hi, this is a very interesting project and it fits well with my embedded and hardware background. I can help reverse engineer the existing tappers, document the circuit, analyze the vibration driver design, and suggest improvements for a lighter and more modern version. Adding Bluetooth control around an ESP32 architecture is also very feasible, especially if you want to combine tactile, audio, and visual EMDR stimuli into one system. I like that this is not just copying an existing device but improving it. I can support both the reverse engineering phase and the next step toward a custom wireless design. Please feel free to send the tapper pair and share your ESP32 concept. I’d be glad to help develop this into a much better system.

I have experience developing with microcontrollers and I have the components and equipment. The most critical point here is weight and ergonomics. By adding a battery and Bluetooth to the tappers, the challenge is not to make them heavier than the originals (which are passive). I suggest using resin-printed or carbon fiber casings to maintain lightness and improve the patient experience.

Hello, I can help reverse-engineer your existing hand tappers and turn them into a documented, improved Bluetooth-enabled system for your custom ESP32 EMDR platform. My approach: Phase 1 — Reverse Engineering • Disassemble and inspect the vibration units • Identify actuator type, voltage/current requirements, wiring, and control method • Map internal circuitry and produce schematic • Analyze speed/intensity behavior • Document mechanical structure for lighter redesign Phase 2 — Enhanced Redesign • Create improved lighter-weight design • Optimize actuator choice if needed • Develop ESP32 + Bluetooth architecture • Dual synchronized wireless tapper control • Battery/power integration • Expandable for audio + visual EMDR features Deliverables: • Full circuit diagram / schematic • Reverse-engineering report • BOM + component identification • Mechanical/electrical design recommendations • Optional upgraded PCB + Bluetooth control design Key priorities: • Accurate bilateral vibration timing • Low latency Bluetooth performance • Better ergonomics and portability • Reliable embedded integration • Practical manufacturability I understand this project is about building something better—not just copying. My focus would be understanding the original hardware thoroughly, then designing a smarter, lighter, and more flexible next-generation solution. Best regards, **Engr. Muhammad Uzair**

Hi, I can help you reverse engineer your Theratapper vibration units and design an improved, lightweight version with modern features. I will carefully analyze the hardware, open and document the internal components, and create a complete circuit diagram of the existing design. Based on that, I can redesign the system using efficient drivers, smaller components, and improved vibration control. I also have experience with ESP32, so I can integrate Bluetooth connectivity to control the devices wirelessly, along with synchronized audio/visual EMDR features. You will receive full documentation including schematics, PCB design, component selection, and recommendations for optimized performance. If needed, I can also design a compact, production-ready version of the hardware. Let’s discuss shipping the sample units and your specific improvement goals. Best regards Engr. Imran Faiz
