The purpose of this is to demonstrate your understanding of the materials and how you would apply them to your organization and/or an organization with which you are familiar. You will reflect and think critically about
multiple organization and change management theories, concepts, and practices. In this, you will explain a change management
event that took place in your organization (or an organization with which you are
Based on that change event, you will write a paper (2000 words) that addresses the following:
Company overview. Include a very brief overview of the company using change
management theories and concepts in the description. Maximum 75 words.
Description of change. Use change management theories and terminology to
describe the change in the organization you are focusing on for this:
the context, rationales for the change decision, and stakeholders;
Critical assessment. Drawing from the textbook and articles used
and using change management terminology, describe and critically assess the
way in which the change was initiated and managed. This includes the
organization’s structure, their approach to change, the roles of culture, power,
and politics, and the main challenges the organization faced in rolling out the
Suggestions for improvement. Reflecting on your experience and learning, explain at least two ways you would have done things
differently either for a different outcome if the change went poorly; or how you
would have made the outcome even better if it went well. Include your rationale
The purpose of this is not to demonstrate how much you know about this
particular situation. Rather, it is to use a real event at a real organization to
demonstrate how well you can diagnose a change management situation and how well
you can use theory to identify ways to improve the outcome. For that reason,
the focus of this paper should be on change management, and not on telling the story
of the event.
The length of your submission should be
approximately 2000 words not including the cover page, reference pages, table of
contents, and appendices.
Less than that means that you have not gone into enough
depth. More than that means that you are not writing concisely and doesn’t guarantee
that you have going into enough depth. This report should be an evidence-based piece
of writing. All sources must be referenced in APA format and a reference list must be
included at the end of the report.
