Means of Persuasion
Logos: appeal to reason
Pathos: appeal to emotions
Ethos: appeal to authority
Thesis: the position that the argument supports
Organization: how a writer arranges ideas
Evidence: facts, observations, expert opinions, examples
Assessment: Do the rhetorical strategies that the writer uses create a clear and persuasive argument or do the rhetorical strategies used make the argument ineffective?
A rhetorical analysis can begin with an assessment of the argument as a whole and then support that assessment in the analysis
