Competitor Research

We are looking for a sales/marketing savvy Chinese National to find out the end-user pricing of a few products from competing brands in China. There are only about 5-7 competing brands (all foreign brands) and some will not have distribution in china at all. For those companies with no Chinese distributors we would like you to get trade prices if possible.

We will provide an excel spreadsheet to the winning freelancer to be filled in. It will include a list of companies and products for you to fill in the price information and distributor details. I will be available on Skype to answer your questions as possible and offer you support.

Our anonymity is crucial for this project and we do not want any suppliers to know we are doing this research.

Here is the project broken down;

1. Find out who the distributors are for each brand (most brands display the contact information on their website). Enter this into the provided spreadsheet. If there is more than one distributor, find out who the other distributor is and what region they cover. I can provide websites if necessary however a google search is usually enough to find them.

2. Contact the distributor and ask for pricing. We prefer pricing in writing and you should aim for a formal quote or price list to be emailed to you. If this is not possible then simply state who you spoke to at the company. Some companies may show prices online. For these companies, see if you can get a discount or an idea of the true selling price, if not please include the webpage in your report. This part may require some saavy sales skills and the ability to think outside the box. You will probably need to appear to be an audiologist or ENT doctor or you could pretend to be an assistant purchasing on behalf of a specialist. If you are asked any technical information I will be available to help you.

3. For companies that are not currently present in China please try and get a list for trade prices. This means you will need to contact the company directly, as if you are a dealer who would like to sell in China. Please forward any quotes or email responses on to me at the end of the project.

4. Enter the information in the provided spreadsheet.

You may feel the need to familiarise yourself with a few basics of audiology or the equipment, but this would be as simple as reading a few wikipedia pages and/or asking me directly with any specfic questions. You would not need an in depth knowledge and it is up to you if you feel you need to read up on wikipedia.
