I was very excited to see a writing opportunity like this on Freelancer. I am a young, passionate, and also very idealist teacher. I just graduated last year with a BA in Elementary/Early Childhood Education from Concordia University in Portland OR. I hold an Oregon teaching credential. I can provide proof documents of my diploma and credential upon request. I feel I would be someone especially fit for this project since I just graduated from teacher education and have begun looking at Masters programs, especially in the Special Education area. I am also a guy--which is unfortunately a rarity in Elementary Ed. I was the only male in most of my degree-specific college classes. Aside from the "normal" path of the public teacher I also student taught at a charter school and have worked and taught at Montessori schools. I am passionate about children's learning and I have seen firsthand the kinds of things young, inspired teachers need to be prepared for, especially if they are going for an inner-city/impoverished school. Most of my student-teaching and volunteer experience was in such a school. There are very real issues that many poor teachers avoid that many young teachers try to tackle. I am hoping you are looking not just for someone to create an informational book about how to find the right school, what kind of course-work you will do, or what it will take to get through student teaching and get your credential. Rather, I am hoping you are looking for an inspiried, passionate writer/teacher who will put a lot of themselves into the work--their heart, their experiences, and incredible stories of the children they have met and helped. In even a few short years as I was gaining my degree and throwing everything I had into my work with children I had amazing and heart-touching experiences that have kept me pursuing a career in this field even in the face of incredible budget cuts, terrible starting salaries, and often crazy working conditions. I know that I have a heart for children and heart for teaching and improving our education system.
