I need a Windows-only desktop application that runs entirely offline. The workflow is straightforward: 1. I open the program, browse my local folders, and pick any .mp4 file. 2. Before the scan starts, I set the frame-sampling rate—this could be every frame, every nth frame, or even a custom decimal rate such as 2.5 fps. 3. The app then performs object detection on those chosen frames. I do not mind which framework you use (YOLO, TensorFlow, OpenCV, ONNX, etc.) as long as everything is bundled so the tool works without an internet connection. 4. When the run finishes, the program produces a plain .txt sheet: one line per analysed frame containing the timestamp and the symbols / class names it detected. No other file formats are required. Deliverables • Stand-alone Windows executable (installer or portable) • All necessary model files packaged for offline use • Source code and brief build/run instructions Acceptance Criteria • User can freely select any local .mp4 file. • Frame-sampling rate is fully configurable for each run. • Object detection runs offline and lists detections accurately in the .txt sheet. • Output file is generated automatically in the same folder as the video, named clearly. If anything in this outline is unclear, let me know before you start so we can pin it down.

Hi, I am a software engineer with over 16 years of experience developing Windows desktop applications, computer-vision systems, and reliable offline processing tools. I can build a straightforward application that lets you select any local MP4, configure sampling as every frame, every nth frame, or a decimal FPS value, and run object detection without any internet dependency. I would package the detection model and runtime with the application, generate the timestamped plain-text results automatically beside the source video, and provide the complete source code with concise build and usage instructions. I will also test configurable sampling, filenames with spaces, long videos, and clean handling of unsupported or damaged files before delivery. Before starting, I would like to confirm which objects or symbols must be recognized, whether a general-purpose model is sufficient, and whether the application needs to run efficiently on CPU-only computers or may use an NVIDIA GPU when available. Please contact me to discuss details.

Hi, I’m a Senior Software Engineer with 20+ years in computer vision and offline desktop software. I have gone through your specific requirement for offline video object detection I built something like this for AI clients, including the custom camera project, with 20+ years in software engineering. I would use ONNX Runtime over a Python-only runtime because a bundled ONNX model keeps Windows deployment smaller and avoids requiring Python on the target PC. I will build a Windows desktop executable with OpenCV for MP4 reading and configurable fractional FPS sampling. The detector will process only selected frames and write timestamped class names directly beside the source video. And I will package the model with the executable so no internet connection is needed. Relevant computer vision and desktop samples I can send. Which Windows versions must the executable support? Do you have a preferred object detection model or sample videos/classes for accuracy testing? Should 2.5 FPS mean exactly 2.5 analysed frames per second across variable video frame rates? Free for a quick call this week? Or answer those three and I’ll map the build. Dev Singh

Hello, I hope you're doing well. I work with Python, OpenCV, and offline object-detection tools for Windows applications. A similar video-analysis workflow can use ONNX Runtime with a bundled YOLO model, including decimal FPS sampling and timestamped class names. I'd start with a simple file picker, validate MP4 input, then write the TXT output beside the video. Could we confirm the required detection classes and CPU/GPU target before implementation? Thank you, JennyCreation

Hi there, I understand you need a Windows-only, fully offline desktop application that lets users select any local MP4, configure flexible frame sampling, run bundled object detection, and automatically generate a timestamped TXT report containing the detected classes for every analysed frame. I’m confident I can deliver a self-contained executable with the model and runtime packaged so the complete workflow works reliably without internet access. My approach is to first build the Windows interface for local MP4 selection and per-run sampling, including every frame, nth frame, and custom rates such as 2.5 FPS. Next, I’ll implement the offline detection pipeline using an appropriate YOLO/ONNX/OpenCV stack, bundle the required model/runtime files, process selected frames, and generate one TXT line per analysed frame with timestamp and detected class names. Finally, I’ll package and validate the complete solution, including the Windows executable/installer, bundled detection model and runtime, source code, automatic TXT output in the video folder, configurable sampling controls, offline operation, and build/run documentation. I’ll also test different MP4s, sampling rates, detections, output naming, and offline execution against the acceptance criteria. Do you already have the trained object-detection model/classes to use, or should I select and configure the appropriate model based on the symbols you need detected? I’m ready to start immediately. Warm Regards, Aneesa.

Hi, I'm Denis, a full-stack developer with experience building offline desktop applications and computer vision pipelines. I understand you need a straightforward Windows tool that processes video locally without external dependencies. The workflow is clear: load an mp4, configure frame sampling, run object detection, and export timestamped results. This keeps everything self-contained and gives you full control over sampling rates. I've built similar offline video processing systems with configurable parameters. The main challenge is bundling models and dependencies efficiently so the executable stays portable without requiring heavy framework installations. My approach: start with a requirements review to confirm your detection classes, then build the pipeline using YOLO or ONNX based on your performance needs. I'll create a simple Windows Forms interface for file selection and sampling configuration, handle frame extraction and detection, and generate properly formatted output files. The entire application will be packaged as a standalone executable with embedded models. One consideration: model file size ranges from 200MB to over 1GB depending on the framework. We should decide early whether you prefer faster inference with a lighter model or higher accuracy with a larger one. I'll include robust error handling for corrupted files and edge cases around frame sampling. I'm ready to start immediately. Let's discuss the details. Thanks, Denis.

Hi, I can build this as a fully offline Windows application with a simple workflow for selecting an MP4, configuring the sampling rate, running object detection, and generating the TXT results automatically beside the source video. For the sampling logic, I’d support every frame, every Nth frame, and fractional rates such as 2.5 FPS, while keeping timestamp handling accurate. The detection model and required runtime dependencies can be packaged with the application so no internet connection is needed during use. I’d also keep the output format straightforward, with one analyzed frame per line containing its timestamp and detected class names. The final delivery can include the standalone executable, bundled model files, source code, and clear build/run instructions. If you can share the expected object classes or a representative video, I can use that to confirm the detection setup and output format. Best, Ivane

Hello, I’d structure this as four isolated parts: video loading, sampling logic, offline inference, and text export. That keeps custom rates like 2.5 fps accurate and makes the detector replaceable later without changing the rest of the application. A practical implementation would use Python/OpenCV with an ONNX or YOLO model bundled locally, then package the full runtime into a Windows executable. Should the output include only class names, or also confidence scores for each detection? Share a sample video and expected detections and I can validate the model choice first. Thanks

Hello, I hope you're doing well. I can build this as a fully offline, standalone Windows desktop application with no internet connection required during operation. The application will allow the user to browse local folders and select any MP4 video, configure the frame-sampling rate for each run, and process only the selected frames. The sampling system can support every frame, every Nth frame, and configurable FPS values including decimal rates such as 2.5 FPS. For object detection, I can use an appropriate local inference solution such as YOLO with ONNX/OpenCV, depending on the required detection classes and accuracy. The model files, runtime components, and required dependencies will be bundled with the application so the complete workflow works offline. Once processing is complete, the application will automatically generate a clearly named TXT file in the same folder as the source video. Each analyzed frame will have its timestamp and detected class names recorded separately. I’ll provide the standalone Windows executable, required model files, source code, and concise build/run instructions. Before final implementation, I would only need confirmation of which specific objects/classes the model needs to detect so I can select the most suitable model for the required accuracy.

A decimal rate like 2.5 fps is the part that decides the design. It means sampling by timestamp rather than by frame index, seeking to computed positions and reading the presentation timestamp of the frame you actually get. Using frame number divided by fps looks fine until a variable frame rate mp4 arrives and every timestamp in the txt drifts. How I would build it. A .NET WPF front end for browsing local folders and setting the rate, accepting every frame, every nth frame, or a decimal fps. Frame extraction with OpenCV. Detection through ONNX Runtime with a pre-trained model, on CPU so no GPU is required. Weights and runtime binaries ship inside the build, so nothing is fetched at first run. The txt is written beside the video, named after it, one line per analysed frame with timestamp and detected classes. Delivered as both a portable build and an installer, with source and short build and run instructions. UFours has been building on .NET since 2013 out of Madurai, with an in house team and clients in the UK and Malaysia. Windows desktop work in WPF is familiar ground here. One thing to pin down first, since you offered. You mention symbols as well as class names. A pre-trained model gives its own standard classes only. If the symbols are specific to your domain, that needs a trained model and labelled images, which is separate work. Better flagged now than after you commit.

Hi, I'm Luigi from Toronto. "YOLO Offline Engine With Configurable Frame Sampling" - you need a standalone Windows tool that detects objects in videos without any internet connection. This is straightforward to build as a self-contained Windows app. I'll package a small, fast object-detection model (YOLO or ONNX) directly into the executable so there are no external dependencies or online calls. To keep the app lightweight and quick, I'll use OpenCV for video decoding and frame extraction. The biggest challenge is making the sampling rates work smoothly—whether you want every frame, every 5th frame, or even 2.5 fps, the app will handle it without dropping or duplicating frames. The output .txt file will list each analysed frame with its timestamp and all detected objects, generated right next to your video file. For this type of desktop tool, I prefer building in Python with a simple GUI (Tkinter or PyQt) and then compiling it into a portable .exe using PyInstaller. This keeps everything bundled, including the model file, so you just double-click and run. I have built similar offline video-processing tools before, so I know how to optimize frame reading to avoid memory issues with long videos. One question: for the object detection, do you want a general model that detects common objects (people, cars, etc.), or do you need a custom model for specific items? Looking forward to working with you. Luigi Tedy

I've built offline video processing pipelines with OpenCV and YOLO before, so this is straightforward for me. I'll use FFmpeg for reliable mp4 parsing, wire up a configurable frame-sampler (handling integer and decimal rates cleanly), and integrate a pre-quantized ONNX model bundled into the executable to avoid any runtime dependencies. The UI will be a simple WinForms dialog—file picker, fps input field, run button—then I'll iterate through frames at your specified rate, run inference batch-style for efficiency, and write timestamps with class names directly to a .txt file in the source video directory. Everything gets packaged as a standalone .exe with embedded models; no internet calls, no external downloads. I can start immediately and have a working build ready for your testing within the scope. Thanks, Andrii.

Hello, your offline frame analyzer is really about turning local videos into a reliable detection workflow without any cloud dependency. I work regularly with Python, Machine Learning (ML), and C# Programming, which fits closely with what you’re trying to accomplish. I’d start by reviewing your folder workflow and output requirements, then handle the video import and frame-sampling engine in a structured way, testing timestamp accuracy and .txt generation as I go rather than leaving validation until the end. The goal would be to deliver a standalone Windows executable that is fully offline, easy to run, and accurate. I can begin right away and should have this completed within 14 days. One thing I’d like to confirm before starting: do you want the detections written as one line per sampled frame with confidence scores included, or only class names? Best regards, Miguel

Creating an offline Windows desktop application that analyzes video frames is an exciting project, and I understand the need for a streamlined workflow. Your goal of selecting an .mp4 file, configuring a frame-sampling rate, and performing object detection without internet connectivity is clear and straightforward. To achieve this, I will develop a user-friendly application that incorporates a robust framework for object detection, ensuring it operates seamlessly offline. The application will allow users to select videos from their local folders and customize the sampling rate, enabling flexibility in analysis. After processing, the output will be structured as a plain .txt file, detailing timestamps and detected classes, ensuring clarity and ease of interpretation. In a similar project, I successfully created a standalone application that analyzed images for object detection, which involved efficient use of frameworks like OpenCV and TensorFlow. This experience will inform my approach, ensuring that all necessary model files are bundled for offline use. With this tailored solution, you’ll have a functional tool that meets your requirements while providing efficiency and accuracy in video analysis. Let's create something that not only meets your expectations but sets a new standard for quality. Regards Junaid

✋ Hi, the key technical point is separating frame sampling from detection so rates like every frame, every nth frame, or 2.5 fps behave predictably regardless of the source video’s native frame rate. I’d build the workflow around local MP4 decoding, configurable timestamp-based sampling, offline object detection, then generate one clean text line per analysed frame with its timestamp and detected classes. The model and runtime would be packaged with the Windows app so no internet is required. Do you already know which object classes or symbols must be detected, or should the app use a standard pretrained model?
