We are building a simple Python app for showing Twitter status updates as images.
The app will be using ZetaPrints Image Generator ([url removed, login to view]) and run on Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, SimpleDB).
Its primary purpose is to act as an intermediary between the client and ZetaPrints.
Someone embeds an image in a blog with src like "[url removed, login to view]; and the service reads the RSS, uses ZetaPrints image generator to put the text from RSS into the image template and returns the generated image.
The trick here is to cache everything efficiently and do not bother ZetaPrints or Twitter with identical requests.
Project home: [url removed, login to view]
List of tasks (1-3): [url removed, login to view]
As you can see it's an open source project.
Expected completion time is before 20/07/09.
