I’m ready to take a new skincare cream/lotion from concept to the lab bench and I need an experienced cosmetics formulator to make it happen. The sole purpose of this product is to reinforce the skin’s natural barrier—think protection against transepidermal water loss, everyday pollutants, and irritation triggers—so every ingredient choice, processing step, and stability target must keep that goal front-of-mind. Here’s what I’ll need from you: • A complete, bench-ready formulation (INCI list with exact percentages) that delivers measurable barrier support. • Guidance on hero actives, emulsifiers, humectants, and occlusives that align with current EU/FDA cosmetic regulations and clean-beauty sensibilities. • A concise manufacturing procedure I can hand straight to a contract manufacturer, including phase temperatures, mixing speeds, and pH checkpoints. • Basic stability and compatibility checkpoints (heat/cool, freeze/thaw, packaging interaction) so I can be confident the formula holds up before scaling. • Any safety or regulatory notes I must address in the Product Information File. A quick turnaround on a first lab sample brief would be ideal, and I’m happy to iterate so we land on a texture that feels elegant while locking in that all-important barrier protection. Dear Sir/Madam I am a chemist from Zimbabwe and holds B.Sc. Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Zimbabwe as well as M.Sc. Chemistry from the University of Siegen in Germany. I would like to be part of your project in lotion formulation. I have experience in the manufacture of personal care products. Creams as emulsions offer the best physical requirements for skin care products to achieve the effects on and in the skin. They supply the skin with lipophilic and hydrophilic active substances in larger quantities. Out of the applied cream, water evaporates slowly from the skin, leaving a thin film with the non diffusible substances and reinforcing the hydro-lipid film. The substances smoothens the skin and provide protection against microorganisms with the acid mantle and a suitable, partially water-soluble preservative. The main part is cosmetic water which forms the basis of the emulsion. Lipids, vitamins, and moisturizing substances as well as preservatives and emulsifiers/thickeners are part of the fixed recipe. Useful addition of alcohol supports the dissolution of sorbic acid, causes a cooling effect on the skin, and acts as an enhancer. Lactic acid maintains the acidic nature of the skin and is an emollient, exfoliator and humectant, that is it moisturises the skin.
