I would like to design a Li-ion battery tester / reconditioner. It will be used to test cellphone batteries and should be able to accommodate more than one port so that several batteries can be tested simultaneously.
It should interface with a computer port (USB, Serial, ...) and provide intelligence to assess the condition of batteries and safely service them. The goal is to classify batteries as falling within some programmable range of functionality.
The tester should be able to perform a quick analysis of each battery against a specific battery matrix to roughly determine its state-of-health. Then, if indicated, proceed to dynamically and safely stress test each battery under different load levels over several hours.
The tester, based on previous test results should then proceed to boost batteries which have been over-discharged and appear dead as well as repair batteries which could benefit from reconditioning.
