For a basic carwash system I need someone who can write a bitshift register to control the timing of the Tunnel. The whole system would have about 10 inputs and 24 outputs, it is important that we can change the basic settings (timing of the outputs) through a HMI. We are used to working with Siemens in TIA portal and used the Siemens 1200 series PLC's and KTP700 HMI in similar projects.

Hello!⚡ Thank you for the clear description. A tunnel wash built on a shift register is a satisfying piece of logic, and I am ready to start. I recently programmed an S7-1200 with a KTP700, using a shift register for position tracking and timing adjustable from the HMI. How I would proceed: 1. Drive the shift register from conveyor pulses rather than from time. The car then keeps its true position through the tunnel even when conveyor speed changes, and every output fires exactly where it should. 2. Hold a data block array where each slot carries that car's wash program, so several cars can be in the tunnel at once and each station reads what is in front of it. 3. Write the logic in SCL, clean and commented, with the shift on a rising edge from the encoder or proximity input. 4. Put all timing and offsets in a retentive DB shown on the KTP700, with minimum and maximum limits so no setting can be entered that damages equipment, plus recipes for different wash programs. 5. Keep emergency stop and safety functions hardwired through safety relays, with interlocks so no brush or spray runs while the conveyor is stopped. Thanks. Hassan

Hi, I’m a Controls Engineer experienced with Siemens S7-1200 PLCs and TIA Portal, including conveyor and sequencing applications. I can develop the bit-shift register logic required to control the carwash tunnel timing and coordinate the 24 outputs based on vehicle position. For the HMI, I noticed you have previously used the Siemens KTP700. Since this is an older HMI model, I would recommend using one of Siemens’ latest basic Comfort HMI models instead. This would provide a more current platform with better long-term Siemens support, software compatibility, and easier availability for future replacement or expansion. The timing parameters can be made adjustable from the HMI, allowing operators to modify the output timing without changing the PLC program. I can also structure the PLC logic clearly for easy troubleshooting and future modifications. If you can share the I/O list, tunnel sequence/timing requirements, and any existing TIA Portal project, I can review them and get started. Happy to discuss the details.

Hi, I see you need a Siemens-based PLC carwash control setup with a bitshift register for tunnel timing and HMI-adjustable settings. That fits well with the kind of logic and operator-friendly control you’re aiming for. I’ve worked on similar Siemens TIA Portal projects using S7-1200 PLCs and KTP700 HMIs, where clean sequencing, timing control, and simple parameter changes from the HMI were key. I’d build the shift-register logic so the tunnel outputs stay predictable, then map the timing values into HMI-accessible parameters for easy adjustment and testing. My focus would be on reliable sequence control, clear HMI design, and code that’s easy to maintain on site. If you’d like, I can help structure the PLC logic and HMI screens so the system is straightforward to operate and tune. Best regards, Gabriel

Hi, I work with Siemens S7-1200 and KTP700 regularly. Carwash tunnel sequencing is something I've done before, so I understand the timing flow and the need for easy changes on the HMI. My approach: I'll write the tunnel timing in SCL with a shift register or step sequencer, whichever suits your layout best. Each output gets its own ON and OFF timing stored in a data block, so you change values on the HMI without touching code. Structure: - Master step counter driven by a timer, or a true bitshift register if your tunnel runs on fixed spacing between stations. - Each of the 24 outputs has configurable ON delay and OFF delay. - 10 inputs mapped with debounce, fault detection, and manual override for maintenance. - HMI screens: main run, timing setup, manual jog, and alarms. - Timing fields password protected so operators can't change them by accident. Deliverables: - TIA Portal project with PLC and HMI - Well-commented SCL or LAD blocks - KTP700 screens with editable timings - Tag list and wiring reference - Short guide on changing timings and adding outputs later Please send your I/O list and I'll confirm fixed price and timeline. Regards, ShengLin Gu.

Hello, Adam from New Jersey here. Thank you for the clear description. I am a senior automation engineer working with Siemens S7-1200 in TIA Portal and KTP700 HMIs, and a tunnel wash driven by a shift register is exactly the kind of control I build. The shift register is the right approach here: each car is a bit that enters when the wash starts and moves along the register as the vehicle advances down the tunnel, triggering each output, foam, brushes, rinse, wax, dryer, at the correct position. Clocking the register on distance rather than fixed time is what keeps the stages aligned when a car moves at a varying pace. How I would proceed: 1. Agree the sequence: the 10 inputs, 24 outputs, and where each output fires along the tunnel. 2. Program the S7-1200 in TIA Portal with the shift register logic, structured and commented so it is easy to follow later. 3. Make every output timing and duration adjustable from the KTP700, using an HMI recipe or parameter screen, so your team changes settings without touching the code. 4. Add safety interlocks and a clean stop, so an e-stop or a fault halts the tunnel safely. 5. Test the full sequence, ideally with your simulation or on site, and hand over documentation. Thanks, Adam.

Hi, thanks for sharing the project. To be transparent: although I work across software, backend systems and automation, I don’t take on PLC or industrial‑automation work, including Siemens TIA Portal programming, S7‑1200 logic, bit‑shift register timing, or HMI configuration for adjustable tunnel sequences. This scope needs a PLC engineer experienced with Siemens hardware who can implement the timing logic, map the 10 inputs and 24 outputs, and expose all settings cleanly through a KTP700 HMI. They’ll be a much better fit for the control‑system requirements you’ve outlined. If you ever need help with technical workflow planning or automation strategy in another context, I can assist — but I’m not the right match for this PLC project.

The bitshift register logic for tunnel timing is the critical piece, it needs precise state management and fast updates. I will build this using Siemens TIA Portal, programming the S7-1200 PLC to handle the 10 inputs and 24 outputs, then integrate it with a KTP700 HMI for the timing adjustments you need. The system will directly control the carwash sequence as you've outlined. Will the HMI interface allow for immediate saving and recall of different timing profiles? Send over the specific TIA Portal project template you usually start with. I have a 5.0 rating across 10 reviews on here, and Preferred Freelancer status.

Hey, Just finished a similar bitshift‑based timing module for a commercial carwash. It used a Siemens S7‑1200 and KTP700 HMI, with a clean TIA Portal project that let the operator tweak all output delays on the fly. We’re the perfect fit for this. I specialize in building precise PLC logic—bitshift registers, pulse‑timers, and real‑time HMI displays—so your 10 inputs and 24 outputs stay in sync without data duplication. Multiple 5‑star reviews on Siemens PLC projects and HMI integration underscore my track record. Happy to hop on a quick call or, if you prefer, I can send a free consultation with a few design ideas. ⚡Hi there, The trickiest part of this project is building the bitshift register so the 24 outputs follow the correct tunnel timing while allowing all timing values to be changed safely from the HMI. I’ve worked with PLC logic, automation control, timers, and HMI-based settings, and I can work with Siemens S7-1200 and TIA Portal to build and test the control logic. Quick question: do you already have the 10 input and 24 output I/O list with the required sequence and timing for each carwash step?

Hi A bitshift register is the right tool for the carwash sequence, but I will add a watchdog timer to catch any stuck inputs. I will structure the logic in the Siemens TIA Portal to keep the main program clean and easy to edit. I am ready to start immediately. The most common mistake is hard-coding the timing values directly into the ladder logic. I will store all the timing parameters in data blocks so the HMI can adjust them without changing the code. I can start right away.
