We have a liquid chemical product storage facility with a couple hundred storage tanks. Each of them is interconnected via various pipe segments, valves & pumps of different kinds.
The tanks are also similarly connected eventually to product entry/exist resources stations for trucks, trains, ships, barge, pipelines also.
Tanks are grouped into sections & contain products which belong to certain clients. Products cannot be mixed during transfers. There are multiple routes to go from a source to a destination,
which are selected by a user. A source or destination, once committed is unavailable for any future transfers. Multiple transfers can be active simultaneously, if routing allows.
Multiple destinations may also be selected optionally as part of a transfer when the destinations will be used one at a time in some preselected order.
There are several thousand potential routes, so hard-coding of route details is not advisable.
Each route contains several pre-fixed pipe segments, valves, pumps etc. resources.
If a resource (which is part of a potential route) is in use or not available for some reason, that route cannot be used.
Your challenge is to develop a plan for a generic highly configurable & scalable DeltaV control system infrastructure using only DeltaV tools (no non DeltaV apps) preferably, to help determine a valid source & destination,
based on user selection request of a source/destination resource.
Then determine, enlist, the selected route's devices which will be sequenced in a pre-defined safe order. If any one of the devices is not available at selection time, that route will be invalid & should be opted out by your system. Determine a valid route.
If > 1 routes are possible, user will be allowed to select the particular route to use. Once route is committed, all device resources of this route will
become unavailable to any other future routes, till done.
Develop a plan next for generic batch control function sequence infrastructure in DeltaV to support the sequential control of devices that are part of the selected route, after a start transfer command by user.
The batch sequence infrastructure logic shall be generic enough to support N devices per step & M steps etc. & any other peripheral activities to have a functional system.
The order of execution actions, sequence related time delays, connections on inlet & outlet of the device(s) resource shall also be generic.
The device grouping shall be possible so a step or a fraction of it, may have its own small customized logic callable
from the step. The control actions (open/close, start/stop, setpoint change, manual actions etc.)
of the system shall be provided as prompts to the user at appropriate times and also any event messages. The setup configuration of the system shall be data driven. If a non DeltaV app is required, provide adequate reasons & also which one for approval.
Discuss the plan with us, get approval after review by us. Also, submit list of any licenses of DeltaV options needed. If nothing specified, we shall assume that no options are needed.
The implementation in DeltaV shall be 2nd phase.
Please specify clearly if implementation is not included, else we shall assume it is included. You shall be allowed to revise bid if reasons are provided.
All the source codes will be submitted to us & will become our property. Mutually agreed milestones (if needed) will be paid after receipt of all source codes to that point & approval by us.
Hourly proposals will require a pre approved hours for certain tasks & require submission of all executed development every other day.
Please suggest rough hours available. Need reliable, serious responsible persons to work on long term basis.
