Our current site [url removed, login to view] is currently taking feeds from multiple sites. I would like to know if you are able tto help us with specifc tings we need done
So here are the details:
-Script will be executed when RSS feed is fetched and on its way to be stored into the database
-Before or after the physical fetch, the script will check to see if there are any img tags, if none it will run its main logic to seek an image
-If no image exists, open the URL of the RSS item, within the DOM of the HTML look for the title and within that look within a sibling node for an image, and then parent, and so on no deeper than 2 or 3 levels (whichever makes sense)
-Ensure the image is an image related to the article, obvious procedure would be to analyze the URL and make sure it is from the same domain to avoid banner ads, etc.
-If you have a better way of grabbing the images, I am more than open to it :)
-Once the URL for the missing image is grabbed, insert this into the body of the RSS feed locally, insert it before the summary text
-If no image, then skip
Ideally the script should not affect performance if at all possible
Second we need the site working in IE6.
Is this enough information for you? if no please pm me
