Software To Monitor Network Traffic for Windows & Linux Platform

Topology Is Attached as a file with this project. all machines are having internet connectivity,users can browse internet, in switch all the ports are having default factory settings,machines may have different operating system other than windows and any browser. Now machine where we have installed Monitoring Application will be having two Ethernet cards (LAN Card),one will be connected to switch like other machines (eth0),but other Ethernet interface (eth1) will be connected to mirrored port in switch (port 5). We can make any port mirrored port in switch by merging it with the trunk port in switch (in layman language),trunk port carries all vlan's traffic. This mirrored port in switch will In This topology we have some PC's or Laptop's connected with switch, send entire switch traffic to the machine which is connected to this port. Our monitoring Application will grab that traffic from eth1 interface,then it will segregate the traffic IP wise (per machine wise). It will show which user is browsing what kind of websites & how much bandwidth that user is consuming, it will give all kind of network traffic details (source IP, destination IP, source port & protocol, destination port & protocol). Entire information in this application will be in plain text & we will keep language very simple, so that even a non-technical person can under- stand. There will be many features in this application software, i can't mention everything in this note, so i am just putting very basic idea here.
