Hi! My name is Jeffrey Loftus. I am a christian, a woodworker, film maker with a purpose. I love making things and I love people. I want to create films, but not just ones that you watch for 2.5 hours and at the end go, "nice," then walk out the door and forget all about it. I want to create movements and shed the light of truth in whatever my movies or documentaries are about.
So why am I here? Well, I need help making a website. the idea is called, Brothers Abroad. I want to have a website based organization that connects people together (think facebook). Users sign up by donating any amount they want and once they are in, they are an official Brother Abroad (an awesome-looking badge is paramount). I want the website to have a main feed page for members to post and comment on and discuss things, a world map that shows where every member is located in the world, and (now this is the important part) a news page that updates with the latest on refugee crises, natural disasters, and things that need humanitarian relief/support. I want the members to then collectively get to decide/vote on where the assets/donations of Brothers Abroad are funneled. They can use the discussion board to talk about why they think this particular problem in the world needs support.
I want you help tailoring this dream, because I also want the website to be foster community and connecting the members to each other.
Ive done a lot of traveling around this planet and I unfortunately tended to value the place I would visit, more than the people I would visit it with. I saw people in different countries as connections to give me a place to stay and show me around - which are great things, but I didn't value them or care as much about my time with them than I did about where they took me or what they showed me.
I want this website to proclaim that it's not about the destination, but instead your brothers abroad or at home that you get to experience those places with. So much better it is to say, "remember when?" than "one time, I..."
