We are a foundation. We need a database for the estate of our founder, which is currently simply a list. The idea is to compile all the objects he left (texts, pictures, audio tapes ...) in a database.
The intention is that people who are interested in our founder can find a specific object by using search parameters. The database shall work like an OPAC. People enter a search term or they check a box and receive matching results from what is in his estate. For the feature "Years" it would be great to have a slider, so people could select for example anything between 1950-1954 or 1962-1977. The total estate has a volume of about 2500 objects.
So far we have a list of his estate, which is plain text and we have a wordpress based website, which can be found at [login to view URL] . The database shall be added to this website. Maybe [login to view URL] would be a solution. Most important is that it is intuitive and that it will be easy to add new objects to the database.
The eight categories for the database shall be a) Archive name, b) Inventory number, c) Name of the Object, d) Category, e) Sub-Category f) Year(s) g) Medium h) extend. There needs to be the option of a blank category, as sometimes information is unclear. (For example year)
A list to the estate can be found under [login to view URL]://[login to view URL]~elias/archive/[login to view URL]
If you are interested in the job please send me some links to databases you have programmed. Also I would like to learn more about your scheduled time and your experiences with Wordpress. (Preferable send me a link to a database based Wordpress site you administrate.)
